8gb makes it virtually impossible to run virtuals . There isn't enough memory to do anything.

Assuming this is "like new", in MS packaging as I have received from other sales from Ebay, sweet deal.
"Like new" usually means overstock from MS in years past and are very nice machines.
Ordered one, hope it doesn't disappoint.
Surface 3 and newer are EZ SSD upgrades, remove bottom 4 screws, lift out mag keyboard, unscrew SSD and replace.

In theory you can remove the RAM chips and solder new ones, but would require extensive familiarity with a station and semiconductor engineering. : )

This appears to be equipped with 256GB, not 512GB. The listing detailed specs show 512 but the item title and description show 256.

Ram is so cheap why cripple machines with 8gb ram.

One would think consumers are smart enough to look at ram specs in this day in age.
