I agree that the price is not that great. There are some other 12V automotive battery charger deals that have come up which were better. Noco is riding a little too high on their brand name, especially with a low-end charger like this one.

Not an expert and not trying to pick a fight but the product listing on all Noco battery charging devices reads Genius1, Genius2, Genius5 etc…

Title should read Genius 1 not Genius1 as it didn't trigger a search alert that I had.

This is a sale price but the original Amazon price is $29.99 not $39.99 so while it is a markdown, it's not a big markdown. I've been watching this item for months on Amazon, and the price has been $29.99.

I did vote this post up and will probably buy. I've been hoping it would drop to $19.99 though.

Thanks for the insights. I was not sure if it was battery or charger. Normally, how long does it take to charge car battery from 50% to 100%?
I have this, it is really slow. I think it says up to 60 hours in the manual.

Useful for maintenance and top off. But if your battery is dead and you need your car this isn't as useful.

My experience might be limited, but I have had two of these Genius1 units fail within 3 months of unboxing. With eight vehicles and only two drivers, I rely on trickle chargers and battery tricks to ensure fire each time the key is turned. I use NOCO regularly and have never had a significant issue with any other NOCO model. Yet, the Genius1 just stops working at around the 3-month mark. Twice now. Both were in climate-controlled garage and with no known anomalies (water introduction, major surges, run over by spouse, etc.). NOCO is decent with warranty response. You do have to pay to ship item back, but they will replace the unit if it's in warranty. Takes a few emails and some pictures of S/N's and such.

Just hope this helps someone else and I am very curious if anyone else here has had an issue with these units failing.

I see it will desulfate and it can start from any extreme low battery voltage. That sets it apart from quite a few other chargers.

This seems like it would be good for SeaDoos in a garage over winter in IL.

Perfect for this, as well as: marine battery for trolling motors, cars parked for extended periods, etc. I've used even smaller ones on jetskis (800mV), and they work great. Went from replacing a battery every year to replacing every four years keeping them on a trickle charger in the off-season.
Other posters are lamenting that this is slow - that's by design. This is not ideal for charging a dead battery (it takes 48 hours), and it's not meant for that. This is for trickle-charging applications like stored jetskis, cars/trucks, etc. The application is to KEEP a battery fully charged when you're not using it for a lengthy amount of time.

Some weird people on here claiming this is bad being 1amp. No crap. This thing is generally used for maintenance if not using something for a while. I have 2 1amp I use on my bikes for trickle charging my batteries. Works just fine. And will have the batteries full during the night after having that batteries sit for a few weeks

This works perfectly for a motorcycle or other smaller battery where 5 amp would be too much.
That's not how these work. The 1A and 5A Genius would work identically. The only difference is that the 5 has the ABILITY to provide a higher current, if needed.

I'm gonna buy it. I have a 15A charger and learned recently it will not charge my lifep04 from 0V. I had to get a bench top power supply and "jump" start it in order for the 15A charger to realize it was hooked up to a battery. This will get me out of those dead dead dead battery situations.

I've had the 1A version used while travelling over the summer months or for spare car without issues for several years now.

Sure if you need to charge faster than say 12 hours buy the 5A version but otherwise ive been happy with the 1A version for charging my Honda car battery.

I think the price is OK .

Can I use this to also jump start a car? Or is that only with the noco boost?

Great for floating charge, bad because of non-standard SAE connector, so you're forced to buy Noco accessories. Pass.

This is only for float charging. You'll need the Noco Boost if you want to jump start. There are better options for much cheaper without the Noco brand.

Perfect for 12v kids ride in cars
What's the benefit of using this to charge it instead of the included power adapter that came with the kid car?
