I hate the ending. The first half was great then kind of slowed a bit and dragged.

The second half felt repetitive with a similar eccentric character but I binged through it and can say I finished it. Good series and $6 is a deal but I'd watch it on Netflix to decide if it's something you want to own.

Already watch it and really liked it. Not buying because of that but totally recommend it. It is usually on streaming services like Hulu and Netflix too, so check before buying.

The theory is, Shonen jump forced the creator of Death Note to write the second season, even though he intended it to end when L died. They've done it before multiple times(Bleach, Dragonball Z), and after finishing Death Note, the writer literally wrote a manga about a writer being forced to extend a series beyond its planned ending by the publisher.
