If your technical, it might be better to use an opensource calendar app with a raspberry pi and a tv or computer monitor. Would be cheaper and provide more customization.

I was lucky to get an old pi from a friend and got the 15 inch usb c acer monitor from costco for $80 and loaded dakboard onto it.

An old iPad mounted using one of the countless mounting options available seems far simpler and more aesthetically pleasing.

Fairly sure You don't need a subscription to sync your calendar. You just need a subscription to send photos to it, or meal plan with it. Someone can verify?

I don't mind paying a few bucks for a subscription for a quality product or a very good service, but this does not appeal to me at all. Here are some differences between Basic/Plus. Everything in the Plus should be free.

Basic
Free
Send photos by email anytime from anywhere.

Plus
$39/year
Cancel any time.
Send photos by email anytime from anywhere.
Video. Send and play videos on your Skylight.
Text captions. Add text captions to photos.
Cloud backup. All your photos backed up forever.
Online access. View, download & share photos online.
Mobile app. Send photos to Skylight from your phone.

I was looking into this when trying to find something to make a dashboard similar to home assistant, which is for home automation to those that don't know, but the upfront cost and sub for additional features turned me onto magic mirror. If your somewhat tech savvy you can use pi, screen, and magic mirror. It has a ton of add-ons as well, kind of like widgets. Can setup multiple screens, multiple add-ons per page, and it's free. Dakboard is another as stated, but the free version there is also limited.

I suspect the upcoming wall-mountable Apple home automation hub will renter this obsolete.

My mom got one of these and it lasted about a year before it broke. Bought her a Google Hub and she is 1,000 times happier.

was excited for a moment as I need a way to combine/sync all my calendars in one place. don't event mind paying subscription for that (which i normally avoid like plague). my main concern is how this thing gets access to corporate calendars if at all? my job uses outlook exchange server and their IT blocks installation of any third-party software on the company-provided hardware. does this or any other platform on the market solve that?
