I know that a lot of people like these, but I don't care for mine.
I have a Milwaukee 1/2 inch impact, which is big and heavy, and a Milwaukee 12V 3/8" impact driver, which is very small and light.

The purpose of these tools is to help you work fast. When I want to pull a tire, loosen a touch brake rotor bolt. or loosen suspension bolts, the 1/2 inch is the only tool. The 3/8", for me, is a pain cause a lot of times it won't loosen the bolt and then I have to go get the 1/2" tool I should have grabbed in the first place.

But then for smaller bolts, like a bunch of bolts holding a valve cover or some assembly, the little 12V impact driver is lighter, smaller, and has plenty of torque. So I almost never find myself using the 3/8" tool. Maybe if you work on cars all day long, every day, the little impact driver isn't tough enough and it will just break. Otherwise, there are more useful power tools for working on cars.

Makes sense, thank you. I use mine for timber frame construction, most recently fastening 6x6's to Simpson strong-tie connector plates. I like this impact b/c it's lightweight and compact, so I can use it above my shoulders or in harder to reach spots. Guess I wasn't thinking about automotive use case as much as mine specifically.

Wow! You rock! I never thought of using it for construction. You're definitely right; if you're doing repetitive work and this tool has the torque you need, it's way, way better than a 1/2" impact. Those 1/2" tools are very heavy; at least, mine is.

I nmight be confused. Are you using the impact driver? I think he is talking about the impact wrench.

Impact wrench. I assume we were both talking wrench (not driver) because of 1/2 and 3/8 size. Your normal impact driver is 1/4

not a "deal' . i won't TD to prevent alerts from going off for people who have them, but i will say this is a horrible buy even if you don't care that the impact is outdated and underpowered

that's an outdated impact. even the new M12 stubby 3/8" is way more powerful while being half the size. you can typically get it for around $120. that means you're paying $200 for those 3 batteries which, again, are not worth it with all the forge sales going on.

I would love to buy this impact but unfortunately they bundle it with the old batteries I don't need.

When are high output considered old batteries?
