I bought this exact computer last week, it's a beast. This is the motherboard: https://www.asus.com/motherboards...-a-ax6-ii/

My 4070 Super is an msi (I realize that can vary)
Memory is T Force Delta 16GBx2 5200

I found a discussion of this pc on reddit. Here is what they said about the loudness.

"I have one, and the fan loudness is fixable. For some reason the BIOS setting has the case fans going at max speed all the time, so I just went in to the settings and set up a curve. Once I did that it's much quieter now."

That's the neat part. You can upgrade the wifi chip yourself with a desktop. Also, no one uses wifi on a gaming machine.

Is this a worthy upgrade from my three year old system below?

it was a gift for me son - sort of a difficult message to tell him "hey dad needs to take your birthday gift away so he can save $400" -that feels bad.

Buy another one in store and return it unopened on the old receipt.

Thanks, I picked one up. Not many desktop deals on gaming systems this year. I was interested in the advertised 2nd year warranty that Costco claims to add to the 1 year manufacturers warranty. Especially with recent CPU failure reports. The employee at the Costco warehouse basically said no matter what it says on the product page, no matter what Costco's policy says, the 2nd year warranty is about worthless and not to count on Costco to help after the 1yr manufacturers warranty is up. No joke. I appreciate his honesty even though it isn't what I wanted to hear. Guess I'll cross that bridge and probably fall off it if it fails.

I'm surprised this took so long to get posted. It's been in the Costco black friday ad for days.

How does it compare to Alienware from Dell? https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/d...lsrc=aw.ds
I'm getting this for my son and don't know much about computer. Also is there any specifications for the monitor and any recommendations? Thank you in advance!

That's for you to decide based on your needs. Only you know how happy you are with what you currently have. Don't fall into the constant upgrade "pc master race" trap. Upgrade when YOU feel its warranted, and once you do, don't compare your specs to others.

I haven't seen any mention of the instability issues with this cpu. I understand fixes has been issued but do folks believe the fix is 100% this time? There were at least three issues/fixes over the last few months.

The Dell has a worse processor (not that it's bad, but you get the point), half the ram, half the hard drive space. You're ultimately paying more for the branding.

I don't have any regrets pulling the trigger on this one so far compared to the other deals I've seen since.
