I do a 50/50 blend of breeze pellets and dried navy beans that you should be able to get at your local grocery store for about $1.50/lb. They're the same size and color and I don't notice much of a difference in performance. The cats don't care either.

You have to care where the litter goes because "Precious" doesn't!

Good price for this kit, this is the larger size for those looking to upgrade. Unfortunately none of the pellets seem to be on sale right now.. I usually stock up on the pellets on BF, prime day, etc because that's the only time the overpriced pellets seem to be on sale (was brought here by an alert). Not seeing any deals on just the pellets this time. For the pad inserts the Amazon basics brand ones are perfectly fine but generic pellets all get terrible reviews. Some say you can use dried beans but that just seems wrong ๐Ÿ˜…

Looking for a new box setup, the cat tracks the normal litter all over. Is this system really that much better? How frequent do the pellets need to be changed out?

At the time of my comment, you can not buy it new for that price. However, you can buy "Used - Like New" for $38.11
I bought this for $36.32 on July 2, 2023.

We have two cats and we usually change pellets and clean the entire bin every 3-4 weeks. Pads are every few days. We have a couple for them to use. You don't need the XL unless you have truly large cats (20+ lbs).

How does the expense of the pads and pellets compare to traditional litter? Are there any other benefits other than no dust and tracking?

I do. Works well. They just break down a bit faster. Our boy is a heavy water drinker, though.

My mom has these and they make her house reek since the poo and pee is wide open. ๐Ÿคฎ

Sorry, no idea, as we've never used traditional litter.

In dec7 I ordered it on amazon for 76.48$. Couple years ago price was 30-40$. We have 4 persians and its the best system. Dont use wood palette in it, all point that dipper and plastic pallet absorb any urinal smell and your house smell good.every guest told me my house doesn't smell like I have cats all cuz of this litter system. For one cat u can use 3.5 lb of pallet for 4weeks, change diper every two weeks. For 4 cats i have 3 litterboxes i put more pallets, maybe 4-5 lb for month and change 2 of 4 dippers every week. Hope this helps to set your butget. I truly tried a lot systems and this one the best for long haired cat and keep house clean and not stinky. Fyi if your cat eats random stuff and he may eat plastic pallet DONT GET IT! I saw online cat stuffed his belly with it and died. I watched mine if they would be interested in eating it for first week, thats why i know it is safe for out house and our cats. Also get small mat that catches litter cuz in week u would have on toilet floor like 50 pallets for sure, and it is like stepping in lego๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜‚

This is a very good comment about watching your cats with this! One of our cats would play with the ceramic pellets that found their way outside of the litter box.

Bat them around and chase them across the floor, then pick individual pieces up with his mouth! We had to abandon this system and throw it all out to keep him safe.

For our other cats it was good. They only treated it like litter. Just be VERY careful and observant, otherwise your pet could potentially die from ingesting these!

Garbage design with the tray at the bottom. Do not recommend.
