I wouldn't, this is still just 4g. You'd probably want one that will have 5g. In my area though Tmobile 4g is getting 90mbps

Why not just use an old phone as hotspot? Just trying to learn whats the difference? thanks

TMobile didn't let me sign up for the $10 Mobile Internet only plan without a tablet or hotspot. I tried to give them spare phone IMEI to register.

They let me just fine. I gave them the brand and model number of the hotspot I planned to use it with. Perhaps a different rep might be more helpful?

Probably just luck of the draw, at $16 I am not losing much anyway, also this hotspot will probably outlast the battery of a phone, easier to carry on the go too. I did have used phones for hotspots in the past
