New to the whole house back up. Will the refurb qualify for the 30% tax? What would I need to connect to the breaker box?
You could install a generator inlet port or a transfer switch. Ecoflow also offers a Smart Home Panel which is a smart sub panel that can be powered by the DPU
Meh, I'll repeat what I've written before. The refurbished 'deals' on EcoFlow are not sufficient when comparing new to refurbished, 12% off for buying something that may have been previously broken (and the unknowns that come along with that) is just not worth it. Add to that probably the bigger issue is that these don't qualify for the Fed rebate at 30%, they're refurbished (used), and the rules say they have to be new.
These don't qualify for the Fed 30% rebate. They're refurbished (used), and the rules say they have to be new, which could be a problem if you are audited.

Ecoflow list prices/MSRPs are exorbitant. If the tax credit is that important then people should've jumped on the Home Depot deal. I would not buy at list price.

The smart panel 2 is a nightmare... avoid because they are going defective on people like crazy and when that happens your key circuits wont work until you replace it. Also, the 60amps per 3 slots limit is worth noting as an issue if you want to run tandems.
Also the tax code doesnt say new, it says something like first install. Refurb doesnt necessarily mean it has been in service... it could be a demo unit or factory defect they have since repaired before selling. It is grey area so decide the risk but I dont think it is a blanket NO on qualifying unless ecoflow states they are used units. The govt should start taking serial numbers on this stuff.
I got the home depot deal, and I am regretting it because diy setups have become so much cheaper... i would buy an eg4 inverter and buy some server rack 48volt batteries instead. Same price more expandable and easier to repair down the road.

You would need the smart home panel 2 if you want everything automated. Otherwise you can use a manual transfer switch or interlock.
