I did a similar deal a few years back with costa vida and they ended up being essentially $10 off coupons, back when I was able to buy a meal for under $10. That made it really annoying.

Food isn't quite as good at a price/quality level as years ago but its way better than chipotle imo. They recently rolled out $10 daily deals which are great.
nice to see a cafe rio deal pop up on SD didn't think there were enough of them for anyone else to care lol

I love going to Cafe Rio when I'm in Phoenix for work.
Last time we were there I was upset that my steak salad is now like $15. When pre Covid blah blah blah— but after realizing the discounted gift cards I load up on annually, plus the bonus points earned in the app— my salad is actually closer to $10 out of my pocket— I felt much happier.
Yes you still earn reward points on purchases made with all gift cards.
We bought $180 worth and got $60 bonus. Burned through it by June. I should probably get $300 worth, but, I just did their $250 maximum-on-one-card this time, and am getting $100 bonus.
Funny story...
Costa Vida lost my business last year; They debuted their new app DURING black friday week in 2023 (and whoever greenlit that should be slapped with a lead glove), and then, the gift card deal (25/10, at Costa Vida in 2023) was still going BUT... here's the kicker... you couldn't redeem it in the app. You HAD to wait in that godforsaken disneyland line in order to use any gift cards because they hadn't thought out how the new app would tie into their gift card system.
Needless to say, the conversation in a quick chat with Cafe Rio support had us both laughing that that happened (I was just confirming that Cafe Rio didn't have the same issue, of course they didn't), and then I purchased my gift cards.
Anyway, I don't know if Costa still struggles with that integration a year later, but, I got comfy and I'm not leaving now. 🤷
