I made the mistake of purchasing the HP 17z-ca300
Performance was decent but the outer casing starter disintegrating within months. The plastic was brittle and of course the metal hinges glued to plastic.

I haven't noticed an issue with low nits (brightness) but the one major issue I have is that the touchpad is often unusable. It often will not register clicks.
