REI is rarely the absolute cheapest place to get things, but occasionally, with sales like this, it can absolutely be the cheapest place to get some stuff. REI is not supposed to be a heavy discount, bargain bin store for the most frugal shoppers. It's supposed to be a company that you can actually feel good about shopping at, sometimes that costs a couple bucks more. But personally, I'd rather pay a bit more for an item from REI than from Amazon, or Walmart, or any other big box store. Are they a perfect company or run by saints? No. But it's a hell of a lot better than most other corporations.

Please, if you're exclusively looking for the absolute cheapest stuff possible, stay away from REI. Because you're the type of person that has been abusing their discounts, return policy, and leniency for the past decade and causing prices to rise for everyone else that's just a reasonable person looking for good gear from a good company.

I'm a very long time member and remember when REI USED to be great. Their return/satisfaction policies changed due to - should be no surprise to anyone - absolute scum that abused the policies.

I witnessed first hand some outrageous and reprehensible abuses that made my jaw drop. Personally, I would have banned these men/women from ever shopping or even setting foot in there again.

BTW - Same reasons why costco has changed many policies. Unethical scum and lowlifes will find any good deal and abuse it.These people are turds in the swimming pool....

Be cautious of REI selling used as new, bought a sleeping pad from last sale, was used, then the replacement they sent me was even more used.

Item I ordered on Nov 20th is now $8 less after code.

REI price adjustment page [rei.com] says "REI Outlet items do not apply (prices ending in $0.73)"

Are they really going to deny me a price adjustment and make me order another one and cost them shipping? I have no issues holding on to both items until I plan on going by the closest REI 60+ mins away to return and cost them even more money with the delay of possibly months since they don't do free return shipping.

The silly policies and lack of good discounts turned me away from this company. I used to buy from them a decent amount, when their coupons were good. The end of year dividend? Also a bullshit policy. Anything discounted doesn't apply to it. And the reported used items being sold as new? Wtf.
