Sounds like a good way to ruin your furniture's fasteners. This is not the appropriate place for an impact driver, if anything, get a low powered electric screwdriver that can take a 5mm hex bit. Ikea fasteners don't take much torque and you are likely to strip the heads (or break them off entirely) with an impact driver. Plus you want to start them by hand anyway or else you'll likely cross thread.

A ratcheting device actually seems ideal to me, for Ikea assembly... but the lack of a 5mm bit makes this a no-go.

Ikea uses metric hex bolts almost exclusively. Get yourself a set of metric hex keys for an impact driver and you will save yourself a lot of headaches and time when assembling flatpack furniture. Combine with a Milwaukee 2505-20 or Bosch GSR12V-140FCB22 and you will be equipped for anything that ikea or any other flatpack set throws at you. The reason I suggest those specific tools is because they come with an Offset and 90* driving heads and that can be a huge help especially in tight places

Unfortunately, it appears the most needed Ikea bit (5mm hex) is NOT included in this set. It only appears to come with two hex keys, 4mm/6mm (depending on which end is exposed) and 3/16 and 1/4 on the other bit. I'd be all over this if it had a better selection of bits. I could find them elsewhere, I'm sure, but it negates the good price.

I am not going to argue with you. I have built hundreds of pieces using an impact driver and never ruined anything. The electric screwdriver idea is fine too, if you dont know how to properly use an impact.

My point isn't to argue with you either, do what you want. But for anyone else reading, I'm advising them against doing what you do.

Don't really need an impact for ikea furniture, I see some returned furniture in the future

Skil now makes one of these multi-head kits as well. QD6293B-10
