If you buy a Fluance with the servo motor isolated from the turntable then yes, I would say Fluance is better (RT-82 fits this bill and is worth the extra $50 in my opinion).

If you buy a low-end Fluance, I would suggest the only way it is better or worse than this Denon will depend on your speakers and your personal preferences which are of course subjective when it comes to audio.

As I mentioned before, this Denon has a replaceable cartridge, that's really where most of your sound quality is coming from if you go far enough down the rabbit hole...
Turntable Labs has this same turntable with an upgraded Ortofon 2M Red cartridge installed for $269. This is $30 less than what you'd pay buying this deal + the upgraded cartridge. Certainly not required for everyone, but its a good upgrade.

I own this turntable. It has a built-in pre-amp that you can choose to enable or disable.

I'm not a Sonos user but given that you can choose whether or not to use the pre-amp, I guarantee you you can connect, it's just a question of how. Turntable has R/L RCA output connections. You might need to buy an adapter to plug into your Sonos... Again, not a Sonos user.

For what it's worth, this is a great budget turntable and I got it at this price 5 years ago so given inflation I'd say it's a good deal.

The cartridge is replaceable as well, allowing for additional upgrades.

if you want it to play on multiple sonos speakers you'll need to buy the sonos port or find a s2 connect, which is discontinued. i have a s2 connect and have used it so that my turntable will play over the sonos speakers (arc & ones) in my living room.

a used connect is the cheaper option, but you'll have to make sure you get a s2 since the s1 will not work with the s2 sonos app. the serial numbers on the connect will let you know which is an s1 vs s2. i can't remember right now but a google or reddit search will turn up what you need to look for. that's also a good way to find an s2 for cheap from someone who didn't list it as an s2 or doesn't know what they have.

Using the S2 Connect, are you able to have the turntable on the same "system" as the speakers that are set up with the tv? Or is it easy to switch from one "system" to another to go between music and television? Thanks in advance

Is it worth paying extra for something like a fluance rt82? First time owner here and I always see that being recommended
The Fluance are universally at the top group of most reviews. I have Rt85 and love it. Buy once, cry once.

Yeah, you can have it play on whatever speakers and rooms you want it to play on with the connect. My system in the living room is essentially one big speaker since it's linked together, but I could have it play in the living room where my Arc+One SLs are and in another room where I had other Sonos speakers if I wanted.

Once I'm done playing the record through the living room system, I think it reverts back to TV or you can set it back to TV in the Sonos app as the source for the sound.

This or the rt81 which is on sale for 211? Or At-120 on sale for $250? The USB connectivity isn't important to me.

I picked up the insignia one for $99. That has both bluetooth and headphone jack besides the preamp. Looks like anything below rt82 for 299 pretty much sound the same

Everyone here is recommending a Fluance RT82 but I prefer this Denon and the Sony for the automatic feature. The reason this feature is important is that lowering the needle manually with your hand wears down your vinyls faster from mechanical trauma to the grooves. The servos in these automated arms are much gentler than a human hand dropping the needle down. Your records will have longer life with an automated system. However, for vinyl purists the act of "putting the record on" with your hand is an important ritual. You gotta figure out why you're in the hobby and what you prefer for yourself.

I was debating between a few of the recent models on SlickDeals and ended up going with the Audio Technica LP120 and this was one of the reasons.

It's not fully automatic, but does have a "needle drop button" so you can set it where you want and then press.

Maybe I'm too cautious but doing it all by hand made me nervous.

There you go, that's a good hybrid solution. I like that you can jump to a song you want.

Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB Is $250 on Amazon right now. Nothing is going to work well on a soundbar without a preamp.
Also, if you have an eligible Amex card linked to your amazon account, you get $80 off of purchasing the AT LP120X since it's sold and shipped by Amazon. Just use 0.01 Amex points when checking out. It was almost enough for me to pull the trigger on it, but instead I used it to get 50% off several vinyl albums and ended up ordering a Fluance. Too bad the Fluance wasn't shipped/sold by Amazon.

I personally won't recommend Fluance RT82/81 either for different reason : The auto stop
function is not ideal. TT do stop the motor from spinning but it doesn't lift the tonearm up. That makes the needle sit on record until you put the tonearm back to armrest. That's bad for both stylus and also the lp.
Even my 1978 Technics SL5100 will lift the tonearm and stop the motor.

I picked one of these up less than a year ago for $229 refurbished. This is a great deal. I read a few reviews that said the OE cartridge deserves an upgrade out of the box. I picked up an AT cartridge that I have yet to install so I can't confirm.

Anyone else see "fully automatic" and expect it to have the record stacker spindle that plays a bunch of records, one after the other? I guess they just don't make those anymore.
I guess people do not abuse their records like that anymore

Nope. Records are collectibles now, so I can see what you mean. They used to be for listening to, but now they're for looking at.
