It has been $1 less a couple days after Christmas
My annual post to remind everyone that virtually NO ONE needs any Turbotax version higher than Deluxe (and those that do already know it)

Although Intuit advertising will say things like Premier or H&B are recommended for people with certain circumstances the fact is that Deluxe includes all the forms you need.

In your case litesdsd, you definitely do not need anything more than Deluxe, it can handle brokerage/stock transactions just fine.

To avoid the usual replies every year, this only applies to the download/desktop version of TT, the online version of the service is completely different and the deluxe service offering online doesn't cover the same thing that the deluxe desktop version does.

https://turbotax.intuit.com/perso...e/desktop/

I'm self-employed and used Deluxe for years. SE do not need home & business, if you need the "extra help" that H&B claims to have fine but if your tax situation is the same as last year then paying more doesn't make any sense.

Wait until the Sam's and Costco sale on 1/18. Amazon may drop their price too.

10am EST - No sale yet on Amazon.

Costco 1/18 sale may be best bet now. All come with that $10 add-on. [intuit.com]

Premier $64.99 (after $18 off)
Deluxe /w State $44.99 (after $11 off)
Deluxe $36.99 (after $11 off)

Will desktop version of deluxe let me import from ETrade directly by logging into ETrade? I have options, wash sale, day trades. Or should I go for premier?

Yes. I imported around 500 transactions ($3.57 profit) last year 😂

LOL. What's your capital though? That's what matters. If it's $10 then you killed it with 35% profit.

Premier has exactly the same financial institution import capabilities as the Deluxe desktop version.

Going from Deluxe to Premier only gets you more "help" from Turbotax (e.g. online guides), functionally the products are identical in terms of the forms that they can handle.

Intuit works very hand to convince people with certain brokerage transactions that they would be better off with Premier when the reality is that Deluxe handles the same tax situations

Ya no kidding. I read one of the top rated comments and got screwed lol. Fingers crossed for Costco to come through.

For those debating Deluxe vs. Premier - if you want to gamble then buy the Costco/Sam's Club Deluxe version on 1/18 and if it doesn't work out you can put the $10 Intuit Credit towards the upgrade; upgrade would be $25-$30ish

See my $10 analysis previously on this thread:

I am going to take you up on this. Based on the chart I'm looking at in detail, you may be right. I never examined it closely enough and fell for the bait. Will send you a drink if it works out! I was buying home and business….

H&B is the only one with Schedule C (Profit/Loss from Business) and Form 8829 (Home Office Expenses). How are you able to manage with only the deluxe?
