I have used both the swift go 16 and this slim 7i. Although 1080p on a 14 inch seems alright on paper, In real life its bad especially with the OLED, it seems pixelated especially with text. I am a programmer and that is a deal breaker for me.
I also used the swift go 16 and its a better device for me even though its 1080p on a 16 inch display, its better to look at especially with text, i think this can be attributed to the subpixel arrangement of LCDs. Each pixel contains 3 subpixels each for RGB colors unlike OLED from what i know...
But everything else is great. The thermals are great, battery life was awesome, this also has better keyboard and trackpad imo than the swift go. This definitely would have been a better device with a higher res OLED panel or even a decent 100% sRGB 1080p IPS panel

When Windows is first installed to a device, either by you(if you build a computer) or by the manufacturer, it saves a "fingerprint" of your system's hardware to the activation server. Going forward, Windows activation servers will use that fingerprint to activate your device anytime it's installed, no key required. If it asks you for a key during the installation process, just click "skip", and after you connect to the Internet it'll be activated automatically.

You'll need to setup a Windows 11 bootable USB drive, you can do that by following the Microsoft guide here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-...c3b507420d

There are other 3rd party programs that can create bootable USB drives, such as Rufus, if you'd like more options.

With this drive plugged in, you boot your computer, press the button to select boot device or enter BIOS, boot from USB, and in the Windows installer delete all existing drive partitions and do a fresh install of Windows. While installing Windows, if you don't want to tie your install to an online Microsoft account, you can skip that with a workaround: https://www.tomshardware.com/how-...ft-account

Sometimes there may be a driver that Windows doesn't include in the installer that some feature of your laptop which you need for the install process(like the touchpad). In this case, you'll need to download the drivers for your device from the manufacturer's website and load them on to a USB drive(it can be the same drive you used for Windows) then load any drivers for functions you need during the install process.

After install, connect to the Internet and download and install all the latest drivers from the manufacturer, so all the hardware features will work.

That's it. Now there's no bloatware, you only install what you choose to install.

Bought this 2 months ago for about the same price. This computer is very nice, super fast, and the touch screen is wonderful, especially after recently buying a generic stylus, interfacing with that makes everything much better and faster. I like how small and light it is. It's a sexy computer and well worth it at $800. Only gripe I had was the power button (accidental presses when handling the computer) but after disabling it in windows, I haven't had any other issues. I'd buy it again without hesitation. Haven't used it for gaming so I can't comment on that but for every day productivity this computer is a beast.

Lenovo has more RAM and OLED screen. Both at Costco. Both are Intel Ultra 7 155H CPU, 1TB SSD, 14" touchscreen.

That's a good price. The Lenovo 7i has an OLED screen which explains some of the price difference. Acer build quality isn't as good, and the preinstalled bloatware is pretty bad based on reviews.

IMHO, anytime you buy a laptop, new or used, you should immediately format the drive and do a fresh install of Windows (or your operating system of choice; Linux, BSD, GNU Hurd, ReactOS, TempleOS, ...). Windows will activate automatically, and you won't have any bloatware to deal with.

You'll want a gaming laptop with a dedicated GPU. It's tough to get a laptop with a current gen GPU for $500, but you can do it for under $600. Look at the Lenovo LOQ and Acer Nitro deals with an RTX 4050 GPU. Also, check the screen specs, if it's 45% NTSC color, it's not going to look great. 100% sRGB should be your target if you plan to use the built-in screen. Of course, if you do plan to have it connected to an external monitor 100% of the time, the internal screen doesn't matter.
