What has happened to Slickdeals

They are not even sharing affiliate Amazon deals these days. It's a shadow of what it was since past few years but this year it has been abysmal.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Big Grin I thought that was one of the prerequisites to be a Lounge member as was already mentioned.Wink

I do apologize if I have rubbed anyone the wrong way as I know my personality can be quite...charming...at times.

i'm in trouble if mods start getting judged based on deal posting skills .

i was speaking mostly of purple (deal editors) and pink (deal hunters) bars [i speak colors for classic users]

for example, long timers will remember iconian (deal editor), daisybeetle (deal hunter), persian_mafia (deal editor), tofuvic (former deal editor) and more from their before times when they were just regular members posting a lot of deals
I remember when Autumn became a mod for April Fool's and then really became a mod. Those were the days. laugh out loud

I suspect that one problem with the site is that deals are sometimes judged based on the member that posts it, not the deal itself.

SD users from way back when have become older and less participatory.
A decade ago someone named Kiev would drop deals from the scripts they had and they would generally be overnight which worked out great for a person like myself who worked...overnights. One day, they basically announced they were shutting down and wrapping up. Everyone, including me, moaned. Nobody though picked it back up....or if they ddi it was a secret to themselves as they likely saw how bothered Kiev was.

I miss that SD, but more because it was treated like a treasure hunt where you, the poster, had to slide in very fast into a deal that may have just been posted to SD and a few other nice sites.

Nowadays such folks have their own social media posts where they're posting the deals there first so they can get that affiliate link $$$ and then maybe someone following the person breaks it off to SD. Still a deal, but not "hot"

Life has changed. One thing that though hasn't changed is the knowledge of this site. Many still know it. I used to be shocked but now? I just mention it and not pause or try to explain it
