FYI, these types of wheels are fantastic, but if you have wood laminate, these can damage it over time. The centralized pressure point destroys the locking channels of the laminate over time. I'm sure cheaper laminates are affected more than luxury ones, but I'm not the first to bring this to everyone's attention. Mine are damaged right now, but in not worried as I don't expect to move anytime soon.

It all stays together, just that it starts to break down.

Double wheel variants mitigates this right? To help spread the pressure

Yes, that was my experience. I originally tried the single wheels, and they worked OK (though they added significant chair height), but they were visibly damaging my chair mat within days. They were also harder to move around if I wanted to take the chair to another room; reversing directions cases the wheels to completely pivot. I replaced them with the double wheel type and am overall much happier. I'm using them on a bamboo mat on carpet.

Can confirm, my feet have been injured multiple times.
Also be careful sitting down after changing over, the chair will roll out from under you if you aren't careful plopping down.

i had one like this fail on me within months tiny gray balls were on my floor
then i realized they were coming out between the seam of these rollers and
when one fails, you gotta replace all 5, as nobody sells singles. never again.

I've had this style in another brand for just over two years, and they're lovely, but you fart in their direction on a wood floor and that chair goes a-rolling. Like others said, also be sure you sit down with precision. A lazy plop and you'll find yourself on the ground. Thankfully just close calls for this guy.

Do you go airborne when sitting down?

My chair never moves, though I always feel my butt touch the cushion before I allow my full weight down. I've been pranked by friends too many times to trust that a seat will be present until I actually feel it

since these are essentially roller blade wheels, is it not possible to replace the bearings instead of the entire wheel?
