Should play any game perfectly with adjusted graphics settings at 1080p. Man it seems people have high expectations anymore.

Solid CPU, pretty slow GPU but usable for most F2P and older games.

It's the 8GB version of the 3050, at least. A 6GB version exists and is slower.

It's DDR5 which is also a plus over a DDR4.

You are giving ground on GPU performance and expansion with this unit - doesn't look like an extra nvme slot is available and the memory slots are probably full, but if the goal is Minecraft, StarCraft 2, GTAV and many indie type titles this would do a lot. 500W PSU means that a future GPU upgrade is possible and the CPU is capable.

for the price, pretty solid package - can't expect that much at this price range, but it's a super budget and should play old games perfectly

It's a decent productivity PC, but the "gaming" aspect is lacking. In previous years, $400 was the sweet spot for i5-based productivity PCs (with integrated graphics). Unless you need multi-monitor support, the low-end graphics here doesn't add enough value to justify the price premium.

For gaming, this HP is a better value:

I have been using the 1660ti with i5 9400F in a prebuilt HP Pavilion (found on here in late 2019 for $400) and I've literally had no issues with any games at 1080p. Most recently have been playing Tarkov and Ready or Not for point of reference.

I feel like 14th gen AND this GPU at this price point seems very solid if you're gaming at my level or probably above.

Disclaimer: I truly do not understand the naming/# scheme of GPUs so I dunno about the 3050 but I know it's an upgrade over the 1660ti

Is this a better PC than my 2018 alienware aurora that has:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8400 CPU @ 2.80GHz, 2808 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 6 Logical Processor(s)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8GB?

The CPU is better, the GPU is a little worse (but more modern, allowing you to use DLSS 3.5). I'd try to update the CPU in your current rig over buying this.

Can you pull the videocard out of this and replace it, or are these all built ins?
I wanna give it to my folks but they won't need a gaming gpu...

The 3050 and 1660 ti are actually very close in performance. You do get the extra 2GB of vram and newer architecture in the 3050, but I would certainly not consider upgrading to that card from what you currently have. Pretty much a lateral move.

Perfect price, I flip pcs and im selling a ddr4 version with a 2600 for 450$. For this price it ain't a bad choice but if you want more FPS and durability spend another 100$ for a 3060

"Anymore" does not belong at the end of that sentence.
