Best price yet on the AMD version, that is superior to the Intel version in both efficiency and performance. That said, the original price was ridiculous so the "deal" is not a deal. Still, this one has 32GB of RAM and is thus viable, unlike the self-own cluster that was the soldered 16GB Intel 4070 which should never have been made.

I want to buy this laptop and I was waiting for a price cut like this but do you think at point in the near future, would price go any lower? At one point, I saw the g14 4070 32gb at $500 off. What do you think?

I'm considering pulling the trigger on the smaller G14, but I'm wondering if I'll regret the lack of upgradeable RAM in a couple years if I go with the 16GB model. What do you think?

Is that the Intel version? I wish they have the AMD version with vapor chamber. 4090.

Very reasonable pricing on this laptop, but this comes with caveats. All the reviewers out there rave about this Zephyrus as being the best or 2nd best gaming laptop of 2024. Much of that praise is for:

- the ultra-sleek form factor (for a gaming laptop)
- the OLED screen (something Lenovo and a lot of other OEMs didn't offer in 2024
- the build quality, finish, and overall wow factor that such powerful hardware can be stuffed into this thin chassis.

The major problems that most of those reviews (like Jarrod on YT) don't seem to talk about or else gloss over are:

- the lower performance relative to the competition, especially in extended heavy-use sessions. That thin design has a cost in thermals, and even with the vapor chamber on the top-spec, there is simply no getting around the laws of physics

- *edit* very limited upgrades. This 16" model does include a 2nd ssd slot for upgradable storage, but Asus' recommended spec is limited to 2gb each! Some owners report being able to use 4TB drives in the 2nd slot, but no guarantees. Must be a power delivery or thermal issue, but kinda ridiculous for such an expensive and premium laptop. The ram is soldered on board and you're stuck with whatever Asus installed.

Still, with all that said and future tariffs looming, for the right price I'd be tempted to bite on a min spec of 32GB+, 2TB ssd, & 4080 or 4090. Best Buy wants $3k for a 4090 w/ only 1TB and 32GB ram. Hard pass.

Between gaming and video editing, I can easily burn through 2TB of storage NOW. 3-4 years down the line? Having to lug around an external drive is going to get old fast versus just slapping in a 4-8TB ssd. YMMV Still, with all that said and future tariffs looming, for the right price I'd be tempted to bite on a min spec of 32GB+, 2TB ssd, & 4080 or 4090. This model has two M.2 PCIe slots, with the included 2TB SSD taking one slot of course. So you could add more storage to the second slot if needed and even replace the included 2TB SSD with something bigger down the line if you really needed to.

That said, the soldered ram is indeed a huge negative and definitely something to consider if you go this route.

Just so you know. Nvda 5000 series will be officially announced in January and new laptops will then come out. Why pay $2k on a 4070?

You 100% will regret it. I bought the G14 open box last week with 16GB memory. I loaded Warzone on the G14 with a fresh installed OS. I was at 90% utilization of memory on it. I have since returned it.

I just bought this Lenovo Legion 7i with similar spec for $1,293 (open box - good) before tax: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/leno...Id=6575387

I really like the Asus Zephyrus form factor more... the better speaker setup, oled... But IDK If I can shell out another $700. Is the AMD processor worth it? Reading better battery life, performance, etc?

Edit: I just bought this open box excellent from BB.com which should be delivered later this week for 1,917.99 before tax.

What do you guys think?

This or the zenbook s 16 for 1150? Cost isn't a big deal as it's a business purchase for me. I don't game but want a powerful laptop for work. Thx
