The only real down-side is if/when the power goes out, the suction will pull the water out of the filter, making it unable to restart on it's own.

Got it down to 37.48 before tax. My tank is too close to the wall though.
Also the 25 percent off is capped at 30 just an fyi for folks.
Note that these are clearance prices, because Aquaclear has just released new and improved models. But my Aquaclear 50 has been running great for well over a decade!

For what it's worth, as long as you don't let the tank get super low, I never had issues with priming after power outage. First prime just requires pouring some water in the filter tank and turning on.
Not sure how pricing stacks up anymore as I bought mine ages ago, but it's a good filter.
