Got one of these for my son when he was born we used it for baby supplies. Now he is using it for Thomas the Train parts and pieces and train set stuff I think it's pretty cool. One day he will use it for a toolbox I'd imagine. But that was my plan. 10/10 recommend
Would rather have a top drawer than the top open like this. What if I need something out of the top storage while I'm using it as a bench / workspace?
I have the HF version and experience this exact issue at times but I feel it's an indictment of my overall workshop efficiency and not the cart itself. If you want to buy something with a dedicated work top, look elsewhere (and pay more).

It would depend on your situation. I hardly use the workbench top on mine because everything, besides the tools in the cart, are located around my workbench against the wall. I thought I preferred it also, but I ended up hardly using it. I still prefer the lighting, the vise mounted on the workbench, etc to work on things. Also I have a few tools that do not fit in the top drawer, that would have in the non-workbench top opening. But I have to store them at the bottom shelf and bend over every time I need one.

this is a tool cart made to carry tools to your bay to work on a car or something the top opens that way to get you your sockets and wrenches it was never designed to be used at a work bench or work space. i have a HF one and its works great for what it is intended for.

I had the same problem. It's a tool cart. I use it to put my tools on while I work on cars, but I want to get tools out of it too. So I bought a homak instead. The top slides and allows access. I bought the 4 drawer version years ago and love it. The two drawer to is essentially the same though and about this price. Homak makers great stuff. edit: actually it's 50 bucks more though, on sale these days. still worth it in my own opinion.

i was at a lowes yesterday and when i asked for one in a box, they said they had all been assembled already and displayed in the 'black friday' area
so the better question might be will the completed product fit into a model y

Before you buy a tool box, you should buy a tape measure.

I'll ask the obvious question - how is the build quality compared to the US General currently on sale at HF? https://www.harborfreight.com/30-...70698.html

Personally, I find the 5-drawer one from Harbor Freight to be more useful (the one linked above that's on sale). Way more versatile with the extra drawer. That being said, definitely spring for the collapsible table add-on to get more workspace (with or without the top open). I believe the 5-drawer has been on sale for cheaper than the current sale, but I'm a bit lazy at the moment to come through the forums.

Edit: This is the table that you can add to the 5-drawer (or 4-drawer) https://www.harborfreight.com/fol...56437.html

Edit #2: Looks like this has the table. Very good deal. Might have to pick up one to complement my 5-drawer HF greenie. Hope they're the same shade!

My son asked for a the gray HF version for Christmas, but this is $1 cheaper shipped. Wonder if he'll be pissed that it's blue instead of gray... Only one way to find out!
