Finally pulled the trigger, been waiting for a good deal with a forge battery and a tool I've been needing and this is about as good as it'll get for what I want

Excellent deal. I have two of these saws - they are incredibly useful and even more so paired with this battery!

Nice. Wish this had been an option at this price when I got my M12 one. By comparison, M12's a little anemic power wise, but it'll still cut a 5" branch if you let it do its job.

Regardless, good addition to the yard tools, even if you already have a gas saw.

How's the chain on these? Do they kick off often?

I have this from am Ace hardware deal a year or two ago. I want to say it was much cheaper then (like maybe $100 or less) but that was then and it didn't come with a battery.
Either way, I'm a big fan of the Milwaukee brand and this tool really comes in handy.

Change my mind:

A significantly cheaper reciprocating saw with a wood cutting blade does roughly the same job?

I've never had anything that my $60 recip couldn't do that wasn't worth bringing out the gas chainsaw - but I appreciate there may be a niche in the 5-10" branch thickness range - maybe I just havent hit that often enough yet

thanks. That's my biggest worry coming from a chain saw attachment for my Toro powerhead.

In my opinion, this pruning saw is one of the best Milwaukee tools out there. Just make sure to buy the M18 and not M12. I had both and M18 is on a whole another level.

I have an M18 Pole saw, M18 Fuel Sawzall, and M18 Hackzall and the pole saw cuts through branches like butter while the reciprocating saws struggle with anything that's not dead and rotted. I just bought this pruning saw so I'm hoping it'll give me the same luck as the pole saw with it using a chain. Cutting down branches isn't terrible with reciprocating saws but it's when I need to cut them down to fit in my yard waste bins where they become troublesome.

Yes, I have wood cutting reciprocating blades. But you're not going to convince me that a reciprocating saw is better than a chain saw at cutting wood.
