Thunderbolt 4 is a big deal. Opens the possibility of adding an external GPU in the future. RAM is upgradeable too. Tempting

I mean if you're going to add an external GPU, then I assume that you're going to leave it sitting on a desk most of the time? I mean do people take their laptops and their external GPUs and everything and set them up in a coffee shop? He's kind of got a point, if you're going to use something external like that, you're going to add the expense of buying the additional GPU, it kind of indicates that you're going to use it like a desktop anyways, so it does save more money to just buy the better thing now

maybe even go for a micro ATX or a mini ATX build.. so it's actually more portable than the entire bag You're going to have to take with your laptop and all of your externals...

8gb for Win 11 is a bit underwhelming. Is the RAM upgradable?

Its ridiculous to add an external GPU in the future on this laptop. You might as well just get a desktop with a better GPU than a 3050TI and more RAM, right now.

Newer laptops with RTX3050 have 6GB of VRAM. Can anyone comment on how they would compare to a 3050TI with 4GB VRAM (ie this laptop)?

Only buy this thing if you're willing to upgrade the RAM. 8GB is rough nowadays, and it's only going to get rougher as they boot everyone off Windows 10 and make Windows 11 more bloated.

If you mean it'll play games at 1080p on minimum settings and struggle to hit 144 frames, yes. with 8gb ram? maybe hit 70-80 frames on Fortnite and it won't be smooth.
144fps? This is a LAPTOP, lol. You get 60 at 1080 with shadows off.

Some people like to take their laptop on the road for productivity and an occasional game that doesn't need a high powered external GPU. You can't take a desktop out of the house and use it without a power outlet.

Honest noob question. Is this a better specs than the Xbox Series X? I want to game on PC on a cheap and on the go. Mini itx tower is more expensive than the Series X Frown

>3050ti
>8 gigs of ram

why even have a 144hz screen? this thing probably can't even run Quake ONE at 144fps.

useless hunk of ewaste and waste of $600.
