You think like that until you get something like plantar fasciitis. Then you'll never wear poorly made footwear again. Hokas have saved me from immense pain.

FWIW I think the New Balance More V4 beats any Hoka shoe on comfort.
I think the point that poster was trying to make is that the cost of shoes has just gone off the charts. Hoka us cashing in on it's popularity and selling shoes (good shoes, I agree) for quite a high price. Adidas has UB and Light Strike which are really good soles and can be had on sales for around $60 or 70 often. Nike has some good soles that are available for about 80 odd every few months. NB, as you pointed out, has regular sales where their high stacked comfortable shoes are available for much less than these shoes. Even Alta, Saucony, etc with their better soles are available for < $100. So this "sale" doesn't seem like a sale when other good companies with their better shoes are regularly available for less, since Hoka doesn't have any special ingredient that just cures people's medical issues magically.

Bought a pairs of Clifton 7 in 2021 and it did not work out for me ; however I later bought a pairs of Mach 4 which turned out to be one of the best running shoes that I have ever owned. I tried Clifton 9 in store again in 2023 but decided to grab Mach 5 instead. At $117/pair, iI would rather take New Balance 1080V13

wondering if we should buy both clifton 9 and bondi8 to see what works out to be the best? Some say that the clifton 9 wears out faster than the bondi 8. To me clifton resembles ghost and bondi resembles glycerin.
