Until you wake up one day and plantar fasciitis decides knocks you off your feet. Literally.
Brooks has shoe finder for each foot condition - low or high arch, etc. It suggested GTS adrenaline for me 3 years back when I had plantar fasciitis. It completely got rid of my pain and I was able to do 15k steps per day. Since then I'm not wearing anything other than adrenaline GTS. I was planning to try HOKA but after reading a comment from 6 pairs owner here, I'm little sceptic.

Amex does have $25 off $125 (which includes tax) so that's another option for some in addition to 10% cash back, so overall would be better than costco deal (assuming you like the style)

Shoe finder online or in store ?
Are you able to run or just walk ?
My wife has pf and she has not been able to run for 3 years can only walk but she still has pain even after walking.

Clifton 9 is supposed to be better for walking (son used to sell Hoka)

100 or less, no thanks
These shoe companies have got Americans figured out. "We want our shoes to sell for $100 but most shoes sell for $50. How do we get $100? Simple! Just price them at $175 and do a perpetual sale bringing the price to $115 and the schmucks will think they're getting a bargain for our $50 shoes!"

I'd love to try Hoka but I frankly see nothing material wise different between these and some $35 sale adidas.

I've heard Clifton 9 is less cushioned/plush than the 8. Anyone have experience with both?

It's about materials and design. Every running shoe has its own type of foam. Some foams are more advanced than others and require more expertise to manufacture. Some last longer than others. Some foams look plush but are really just bulky and stiff, like on the Adidas Duramo. Some can be thin but still soft, like on the Ultraboost DNA. It's not just a gimmick. The cushioning really is significantly different between brands and models.

The foam Hoka uses is extremely comfortable if you stand/walk/run for a long time. You may think it won't make a difference, but your feet, ankles, legs, core, and back will all definitely notice it.

If you put your body through high-impact activities every day, it is worth investing in something that will make you enjoy the activities more and could also reduce your risk of injury by reducing strain, especially on joints.

If companies like Walmart, Reebok, etc., made $30 plush, high-stack shoes (provided they didn't fall apart in a month), then maybe Hoka would need to lower or better justify its pricing, but as things are, only a handful of companies make these kinds of shoes, and they all cost a lot, even on sale.

FWIW I think the New Balance More V4 beats any Hoka shoe on comfort.

Why would you own four pairs of Hokas if they're garbage?
I bought them during a big sale. Liked the looks of them and they seemed comfortable at first.

It's nuts to me that shoes are a "deal" at $116 🤷 ♂️
This is popular amongst medical professionals who stand for extended amounts of time.
Average Joe's dont need this type of supportive gear.

Yes great deal but unfortunately not on wide sizes. If anyone is planning to buy wide (not related to this deal) I would size up by 0.5. Just my 2c

Not sure why you are taking it so personally, but since you are - making a statement of "It's nuts to me that shoes are a "deal" at $116" without having done some proper research is pretty ignorant. Hoka shoes have cured foot issues such as plantar fasciitis for several people. Hoka's don't go on sale often so any discount is great and appreciated and considered a deal for many.
