So, most torque wrenches for lugs are going to be 1/2 in and you generally want deep well 1/2 in sockets (due to distance from ratchet head to lug nut). Also, you want 6 pt sockets and not 12 pt (the 6 pt help prevent bolt stripping by offloading torque on bolt flats vs bolt edges).

The above said, I just noticed that HFT finally has inexpensive Pittsburgh brand 1/2 in chromed sockets in 6pt deep wells. They're only $16 for a 10 pc set, and if you get a 10% or 20% coupon, even cheaper. These would be your best bet if you don't plan to also use a motorized impact wrench and do your work by hand.

I differ here if you ever plan to use with an impact, but always use a 6 pt impact socket for lug nuts and any fasteners that require north of 140 ft lbs of torque. I have broken chrome sockets breaking lugs loose, not fun.

My impact wrench is a little Milwaukee 12v Fuel. Any reason I can't use that to take them off and then a torque wrench to torque them to spec when I put them on?

I'm just looking at doing this for family cars (Rav4, Golf, Ranger, etc), nothing large.

Should work fine. I spin mine back on with my M18 on low, and finish with a torque wrench

some but not compared to snap on. if items are available in pittsburgh average joe/diyer doesnt need icon, ei ratchets, sockets, breaker bars. icon plier wrench good to go after discount. although there are some pittsburgh items are just pure crap. id stick to items if needed that are only available in icon.
