This says "with wifi" but is it built in, does it have a module, and if it does.. will it also require a separate plug in hub or something?

The wifi module gets put in like a battery because you can buy it with Bluetooth only and then buy the wifi module separately. It's fully battery operated so you will have to replace them or swap with rechargeables. Lithium AAs might be a good option too.

Thanks, to calrify.. will the wifi only work to unlock while on the same network?

I bought one for my sister that said wi-fi and came with a module, but only would connect remotely if you plugged in a separate dongle or hub into the wall, so she had to buy that for it to work outside the house.

I'm still waiting for mine to arrive but there is no need for a dongle or seperate hub from all the reviews I saw of this. The Verge rated this as one of the best Smart Locks and I also looked up a couple of overviews on Youtube.

I have this lock. Once connected to wifi, you can control it from any network using the Yale Access app

I won't buy any lock that didn't have emergency unlock function with 9V battery or USBC connection. All newer lock have that function which concludes this lock is not up to the standard. Don't trust that low battery warning function, I had lock that had that function and didn't work and lock me out, luckily enough I have physical key with me, otherwise I will be like one of one star review mentioned need to call locksmith.

What are the key differences (pun intended) between this and the one at Costco that is going for $129.99 in store.

All I see is this one has a keyhole and the Costco one doesn't. Are there any other differences?

It's actually not just Bluetooth. I double checked since I got it last week, and the WiFi module is included.

One of reason people want electronic keypad is not carry a key to avoid lost key, sure you can keep a spare key at your neighbors or friends house, but why buy one without emergency unlock function when the function is already mature and there for tons of other locks.

Also, it's a bit of a vulnerability to have a physical keyhole that can be lockpicked. Here's a Yale lock that has no keyhole and has a 9V battery backup (albeit touchscreen vs. keypad) for $150 (in satin nickel finish).

Personally, I might go for the one with a fingerprint reader for a bit more.

Agree, but the review on the one you recommended is not good to, so don't buy Yale electronic lock at all

What I learned is you need to have a plan to get in the house if lock didn't work before you install electronic lock.

"There are some major things wrong with this lock, which resulted in us getting LOCKED OUT OF OUR HOUSE, and needing to call a locksmith, who had to drill our door to get us access.

- The plan if the batteries die, is to plug in a 9 volt underneath, to give you enough power to enter your code to get in and change the batteries. When you search online you will see HUNDREDS of FAQ's and videos showing you this. BUT with the Yale Lock 2, it is a "sleeker" design that is thinner, which means there literally isn't enough room to plug in a 9 volt underneath. The battery can't connect. So the videos you see of this are completely irrelevant. When I called their customer service, they literally admitted this. The "sleeker design" is their terminology. But they offer zero assistance."

The price just dropped another $20 and has now become the historic low for this. I just updated the original post. I'll be returning the one I bought for $175 and buying it for this new price
