Personally, this particular style isn't my taste. I'm just shocked that some folks have come in and called this watch, "junk" while comparing it to cheap Walmart pieces or made comments in jest regarding the listed MSRP. Yes, the MSRP is probably inflated but if someone knows what typical pricing is for Movado watches (I know, broad stroke) or the brand in general, I didn't feel like they would be making some of these comments.

- Watch retail price is way overinflated (as are many other watches).
- Movement is nothing to write home about (appropriately at this price point).
- Value is good enough.
Personally I'd rather spend money on other watches but if you like the design, then you like the watch, and there is nothing wrong about getting it.
defo not a big watch expert but been looking for a nice somewhat dressy watch with white dial
definitely hate big o hunk of metal heavy watches ... anyone have any experience with this watch/brand or opinion on it..?

Movado is not contentious for collectors, it's viewed as overpriced trash by anyone who is serious.
Movado is not contentious for
I believe you are correct that they are overpriced. I believe the company ownership changed hands in the 80's (could be wrong on that) and the turn that they took did impact the quality of the brand. However, they have maintained ridiculous MSRP despite the drop in quality/standards the company was well known for. In the decades since, they have managed to continue on using this business model. I don't like that they do it and, ultimately, I would never, ever pay full price for a Movado watch. However, to call it, "junk" is an extreme, biased, and emotional descriptor for the brand. They are far from the best but a large portion of individuals buying watches is based on style first and quality second. Just look at how many people buy G-Shocks lol. Keeping that in mind, many people who gravitate towards this brand are attracted to the minimalist take on the watch face. The fact that most Movado watches, across the many styles, maintain this minimalistic watch face means those buyers will appreciate the aesthetics of the brand more.
You don't have to be a watch enthusiast to appreciate the difference between a $10 watch, a $2,000 watch, and a $300 value watch that has a regular MSRP of $3,000. The last one is frustrating but doesn't make it, "junk" IMHO
Honestly, it is kind of fascinating to see just how consistent the watch market has been with the advancement and widespread acceptance of smart watches over the last decade. I never would have guessed that the industry would manage to remain as relevant with how integrated technology has become in people's lives. It will be even more interesting to see what the next 10 years has in store though. I think there will always be a market for a high end mechanical watch but by the end of the next 10 years, the new customer base will be people who grew up with smart watches and I don't think as many of them will have the interest and appreciation of a traditional watch as those of us that grew up using watches to simply tell time.
