Electric bike

I am interested in suggestions for an electric bike that would be good for riding on trails, at least on dirt roads. It must be good on slopes, at least as steep as for cars. I understand that it might not work on steep slopes; that would be dangerous even. I assume I want a 750 watt motor and not more than that, California law limits the power of electric bike motors to 750 watts when riding on the street.
A good fender would help but if I can get a good one added then the bike does not need to have one standard. A removable battery would help. I don't need much range; hopefully a 100 mile range would be enough.
Is it possible to limit this discussion to just bikes that match that criteria? I have been told there is an option to do that for chats but I do not see that option.

Check out the local bike shops around you and see what they carry and what brands will they work on.
Some shops won't work on department store bikes...think Wally Mart, Target, etc. as their insurance may not cover the shop should they work on one of those bikes and then the customer has an issue (Bike fails and then the shop gets sued).

As to how the motor helps you, there are different versions where it will be pedal assist which only works when you are moving the pedals to the I just want an electric Mountain Bike and not have to pedal...Costs and mileage range will be affected by this.
Depending on how rough the trails are, a 10 mile day may be plenty far enough for you.
The effort to MTB vs. Road bike is 2 or 3 times harder for the MTB rider as the bike is heavier and you are bouncing around despite having shocks.
