We added a power-tool battery conversion kit to ours and now my 2 year old is clocking around 55mph.

Does anyone have experience with 6V cars, I worry it's not as powerful as the standard 12V ones.

They are slow by design. However, it uses direct motor with no regulator so you can use higher voltage drill battery to make it run faster.

I think he just tried to be funny. Even with 24V battery, which can burn these motors quickly, you can probably get to 10-15 mph.

Have a different 6V ride on and it's perfect for smaller kids who can't be trusted at high speeds. E.g. my 22 month old can safely move slowly around the driveway on the 6V. It is NOT strong enough to move an inch in grass vs a 12V which can pretty easily

As long as it's under warranty the batteries should be covered.
