Best game of the year, in my opinion. Astro bot is up there as well, but the sheer scope of music, graphics, environments, battles, card mini game.… it's almost TOO much for anyone looking to platinum the game.

The amount of mini games really is an homage to the original. They basically fixed every shortcoming of Remake, the quests are actually fun, there aren't random potato graphics, they created regions which have distinct personalities, they remembered that this is a goofy video game with a serious main plot not a serious video game with a few goofy moments.

I'm not sure how you got the idea it's an interactive movie. That couldn't be further from the truth. It's an action packed blast and very easily worth $40. It also got great reviews. Not getting 10s across the board does not mean it's "not that good." There's a reason it's nominated for Game of the Year.

This was my Game of the Year, until Metaphor: ReFantazio came out. This is still a great game, and worth $40, though. Granted it'll probably drop to $30 next year.

I haven't played Metaphor, yet, but I have loved every bit of FFVII Rebirth. Over 100 hours in, and I'm still enjoying myself.

The beginning of metaphor refantazio is crazy from the demo, I hate persona but is the middle and end of the game just as good?

You don't need to play the original game from 1997 to play these games, but have you played the first part of this; the one titled "Final Fantasy VII Remake"? You need to play that one first if you want to be caught up on the story.

Rebirth is definitely a great game, and really would have been my GotY, had I not played Metaphor. I wouldn't be mad if Rebirth won, though. It's definitely deserving. I haven't played Astro Bot yet, but it sounds like that is deserving, as well. When The Game Awards happen next week, it's pretty much between those 3 for the top award.

Of course IGN and professional reviewers will gush over the game. It's their job and they're incentivized for it.

If you check out some of the more independent reviews the general concensus is that Rebirth is boring bc it has pacing issues and filler stories.

I thought Remake was okay. Like the name, it's a remake with new graphics and all but it's been done and over with.

Maybe for gamers who haven't played the original it might be worth it.

Lol i finished og ff7 like 10 times and this game blew me away. 100+ hours of play time and waiting on pc version to replay it again. Easily game of the year together with wukong.
