  • This deal works out to $15 per month. A nice offer since Mint Mobile typically only offers this sort of promotional pricing on shorter duration plans.
  • Please see the original post for additional details & give the WIKI and additional forum comments a read for helpful discussion.

I had Mint for one year until about 6 months ago. Two things made me switch to US Mobile: data prioritization and extra fees significantly increasing the price at renewal.

Data prioritization: I live in a semi-rural area, so the vast majority of the time this wasn't an issue. However, occasionally on weekends when people were home my phone data would slow to a crawl. Where it became untenable was during power outages (including lengthy ones during natural disasters). My phone data was literally useless. I couldn't even check the weather apps. This was my #1 reason for switching to an MVNO that included priority data.

Fees: US Mobile charges you the stated price, inclusive of taxes and fees. Mint's price was much higher than expected due to taxes and what seemed like extraneous fees.

So far I have much preferred US Mobile. Even though I have to use the Verizon network (slower data speeds) in order to get priority data, I haven't had any issues and it's still plenty fast. During the last major power outage I had zero issues with data. I plan to keep them when it comes time to renew.

Not really! There is a $25 "recovery fee" and other fees which might bring the mint deal within a few dollars of the visible one

When you go to this page, it states at the bottom T&C this is only for new customers. If you login to your account and try to find the discounted plan it is non-existent. If you know a workaround please let us know. Thanks.

Literally just activated a 3-month plan last night…
I did too. Then I submitted a cancellation request because this was for new customers only and I was no longer a new customer as of yesterday. Haven't heard anything. Did go with Tello for $14/mo for 5GB which is way more data than I'll use anyway.

is it worth to switch from US mobile WARP plan ($25 unlimited basic with international calls free) to this one? I missed the recent visible+ annual plan with free iphone 13.
It depends. This is cheaper.

If your T mobile connectivity is good where you use the phone, then yes.
If for calling international numbers you are ok loading credits and paying as you go. Basically you are not using WhatsApp or other VOIP messaging services to make these calls.

T-Mobile Connect is $15/mo without commitments and without de-prioritized data like Mint has. I just switched my family and leaving Mint is a TERRIBLE experience. They lock you in by not providing you your account number ANYWHERE. Must call support and jump through a thousand hoops for the info. They were fine when we had them but with my experience leaving them, I'd definitely never go back!

Mint required the following info to give me my account number for T-Mobile to port my #...
Full name, full address, last 4 of social, current phone number, sms/text verification code, and finally the middle two of social for some reason. About 2 hours later, I had my account #.
The $15 Connect plan is for 5gb of data. This deal is for "Unlimited" data for ~$15/month (for 12 months).

Everyone has different experiences with each carrier. In my area, Mint was wonderful. But I switched to Visible because of the $15/mo th for 5 year plan.

I'm switching back to Mint because Visible is way too slow for me. It took me ~3 mins to get things to load in all my apps (it's not a phone issue. Wifi works great).

Currently on USMobiles 30 day trial and was considering this until I saw the added recovery fee ... Ryan Reynolds can suck it.

Unfortunately, no. In fact, he will send you Christmas cards with his annoying face every year.

Even with the fees, it is about $17.50/month. Where else can you get 40GB of highspeed data at this price?

Idk I just pay 260 a year and call it good. Not worth effort switching between carriers. The 20mo plan in mint is perfect for me

I believe that any a current or existing Mint Mobile customer can become a new customer any time by activating the deal under a different phone number or email than the existing one. I did it last year. Mint never has a service plan deal for an existing customer because they don't want the existing customer to extend his or her current plan.
Can anyone verify if an existing customer can get this offer by keeping the same number but using a different email to sign up for the deal.

That's because visible has the lowest qci tier (9) on verizon's network, meaning your data is the lowest priority for the tower/antenna you're connected to. That's what he means when he says t-mobile connect is without de-prioritized data like mint has. T-mobile connect is qci-6 on t-mobile's network, and mint is supposedly qci-7, higher is worse. So browsing the web and using apps will be faster with t-mobile connect, but the trade-off is 5gb part.

Not sure about on t-mobile's network, but on verizon's network moving one qci slot can make a huge difference. I went from a qci 9 plan to a qci 8 plan and the difference was night and day. My phone was a paperweight at times on the 9 plan, super frustrating.
Now, I'm not sure how big of a difference you'll notice on t-mobile's network. I like t-mobile, I think their network is way better/faster than verizon's, so maybe the difference would be less noticeable between a qci 7 mvno and a t-mobile plan at 6. If you were to ever have an issue, it'd be in a crowded area or time of day when the tower is busiest.

I also have been hopping from New Customer Deal to New Customer Deal with Mint Mobile + Google Voice. I got a warning SMS and Email today:

Mint Mobile: We detected that you've recently activated onto a promotional offer exclusive to new customers, which is against our Acceptable Use Policy. If you continue to buy and activate additional new customer offers, we reserve the right to adjust your plan to a 5GB plan.

Enshittification continues. They were great for years, and mere months after getting acquired, start pulling stuff like this.
Anyone else get this email. Ive been doing the same for last 2 ys and didn't get it. I get a number and use new email each time I sign up.

What's the actual total per month? I assume you get all these extra federal fees tacked on so it's more like $18/month?

Regulatory fees are nominal, recovery fee (mint pockets) hits you. Outlined in Section 10 of Terms and Conditions. Put it in your cart and preview costs.
