  • This deal works out to $15 per month. A nice offer since Mint Mobile typically only offers this sort of promotional pricing on shorter duration plans.
  • Please see the original post for additional details & give the WIKI and additional forum comments a read for helpful discussion.

I had Mint for one year until about 6 months ago. Two things made me switch to US Mobile: data prioritization and extra fees significantly increasing the price at renewal.

Data prioritization: I live in a semi-rural area, so the vast majority of the time this wasn't an issue. However, occasionally on weekends when people were home my phone data would slow to a crawl. Where it became untenable was during power outages (including lengthy ones during natural disasters). My phone data was literally useless. I couldn't even check the weather apps. This was my #1 reason for switching to an MVNO that included priority data.

Fees: US Mobile charges you the stated price, inclusive of taxes and fees. Mint's price was much higher than expected due to taxes and what seemed like extraneous fees.

So far I have much preferred US Mobile. Even though I have to use the Verizon network (slower data speeds) in order to get priority data, I haven't had any issues and it's still plenty fast. During the last major power outage I had zero issues with data. I plan to keep them when it comes time to renew.
Not really! There is a $25 "recovery fee" and other fees which might bring the mint deal within a few dollars of the visible one
When you go to this page, it states at the bottom T&C this is only for new customers. If you login to your account and try to find the discounted plan it is non-existent. If you know a workaround please let us know. Thanks.

With prepaid plans there are typically no refunds, period. Reading through the mint faq's, it sounds like you have 7 days to decide if you like the network or not
"All of our full phone plans and See for Yourself Kits feature a 7-Day Money Back Guarantee for all purchases made on mintmobile.com or using the app. You can cancel your wireless phone plan service for any reason within 7 days of activation and we will refund you 100% of the purchase price, including any fees and taxes. Shipping is not refunded."

Honestly, in my lowly opinion, I think this is pretty generous of mint. Mint might also still have the option to try their network via an app that installs a temporary esim, I did that earlier this year.
I'd take their guarantee with a grain of salt if the Mint subreddit is any indicator. Mint does sell a trial sim but apparently the data is so limited as to be useless for practical purposes. Target carries I believe.

But you can't port your current number as part of this process. What are folks doing about that?

I really want to leave ATT. I pay over 60 a month.
I ported mine

Just switched from T mobile to this and kept my phone number. So far so good. Not noticing any difference whatsoever other than I paid $180 for a year.

Ever since they sold T-Mobile they stopped doing the kind of deals that I found compelling. Used to be able to get 3 months at 5 GB for $45 and get another 3 months free. They used to let you get a pixel 8:00 or a pixel 7 Pro with 6 months of coverage and another 6 months free and you didn't have to get the expensive unlimited plan you could get the 5 GB plan

Mint Mobile has become much less inviting to people that actually only need the five gigabyte plan. If you need the 15 GB plan or the unlimited plan or whatever it is then I suppose the deals are roughly the same or maybe even better but good deals on the 5 GB planner basically gone now.

Between this and MetroPCS it's been disappointing to see these T-Mobile based MVNOs become less valuable to me.

Does anyone know, how late can you postpone to activate the sim card? Also, will 5G unlimited data compatible with hotspot router?
