  • This deal works out to $15 per month. A nice offer since Mint Mobile typically only offers this sort of promotional pricing on shorter duration plans.
  • Please see the original post for additional details & give the WIKI and additional forum comments a read for helpful discussion.

I had Mint for one year until about 6 months ago. Two things made me switch to US Mobile: data prioritization and extra fees significantly increasing the price at renewal.

Data prioritization: I live in a semi-rural area, so the vast majority of the time this wasn't an issue. However, occasionally on weekends when people were home my phone data would slow to a crawl. Where it became untenable was during power outages (including lengthy ones during natural disasters). My phone data was literally useless. I couldn't even check the weather apps. This was my #1 reason for switching to an MVNO that included priority data.

Fees: US Mobile charges you the stated price, inclusive of taxes and fees. Mint's price was much higher than expected due to taxes and what seemed like extraneous fees.

So far I have much preferred US Mobile. Even though I have to use the Verizon network (slower data speeds) in order to get priority data, I haven't had any issues and it's still plenty fast. During the last major power outage I had zero issues with data. I plan to keep them when it comes time to renew.

Not really! There is a $25 "recovery fee" and other fees which might bring the mint deal within a few dollars of the visible one

When you go to this page, it states at the bottom T&C this is only for new customers. If you login to your account and try to find the discounted plan it is non-existent. If you know a workaround please let us know. Thanks.

It irks me when new customers can get a better deal than existing. Yes I'm well aware of the reasons why new customers get offers.
I am so irked!

This is where the lack of recovery and other fees gets me in advertising $15 a month when it is really $17.50 a month. I liked US Mobile's advertising since they include the whole charge in the cost, so when it says $15/mo it is $15/mo and when it says $25/mo, it is $25/mo.

Stetson Doggett does a good effort on comparing the ins and outs of plans at many costs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGKPWvox4UA

Yup, Stetson Doggett has a good comparison of US Mobile and others on his channel like you said. Sorry that this appears as a duplicated comment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGKPWvox4UA

Rolled from US Mobile over earlier today. US emailed data I needed over, purchased year for $180 errr $209 with taxes in Texas. Amex sent email hour after activation $45 credit in process. Took 10 minutes to activate once I loaded max. Did esim, current service on micro sim no issues. Mint in general works great from previous useage. You will hit deprioritizion, not very often in my experience

Existing customer. Called their toll free number 800-683-7392 and they offered $120 discount on unlimited plan ($240/year) or $100 discount on 15G data plan ($140/year) for my renewal due next month. Went with 15G data. The discounted added is shown in transection history as "CARE2: Retention Offer"

With $45 cashback from Amex, the 15G data plan is $95/year + Taxes.

BTW, if you have recently renewed / signed up, the CSR can refund full money and give you discounted price. After I paid for my renewal, I received a call from another CSR from Mint who offered to do that for me. (He called me because my call with him was dropped earlier today, and when I called Mint back I was routed to another CSR).

Just an FYI for people already on a plan and are about to renew or people who are near the end of their 3 month trial plan, I called their retention department and was able to save $40 on my plan renewal. I'm on the 15 GB plan for $240 and also had a $45 referral credit. I ended up paying $179 after taxes / fees for 12 months of 15 GB. I also asked them about my mom's plan that I had referred her to recently (I got $45 and she got $15). They were able to apply a 4 months free promotion and an additional $60 off so she was only charged $79 after taxes and fees for 12 months of 5 GB. She doesn't use her phone much for data but it's hard to beat at only around $6.50 per month.

I've enjoyed their service this past year. I get gigabit speeds at my home (over 1,000 mb/s dl) using cellular data (not wifi). Just sooo much better than the poor signal / service I had with Verizon while also paying $90 per month at Verizon. I wish I would have switched to one of these lower priced companies years ago... would have saved me thousands.

Edit: I called their customer service phone number at 1-800-683-7392 and hit prompts 3, then 2, then 1 to get a human on the phone. It takes you to their technical support but you can just ask for the retention department and they will transfer. The lady on the phone in retention was able to apply these discounts while on the phone but you will need to have payment method ready in your online account for them to apply the credits.
