Thanks, got one with the 3% PayPal adorama Cashback. I had the rp1400sw before but it was a bit too strong for my house so I sold it. It made me worry about damaging the structure of my house. This one should be less catastrophic.

It's highly dependent on the room, placement options, and the particular subs, but in general I'd recommend two quality 12" subs that can dig deep like this one appears to unless you have a huge space and really need 16" to hit low. But in that case I'd recommend dual 16". I personally went dual 12" after years of only having one and was very pleased with what the extra sub brought to the party. There's a fullness to the sound that I don't think a single larger sub would've provided compared to the single 12".
In my room it really did smooth out the bass in every seating position and delivers it with authority. My space is decently big but not massive and I had two easy spots to place the subs that delivered good bass response, but with differing weaknesses. I had trouble choosing which spot was better when doing the subwoofer crawl for the first sub. Once the second one arrived it really came together nicely. I was at a local theater the other day for the first time in awhile and honestly thought the bass was lacking compared to my modest setup at home.

In my opinion, I'd go with a single 16" and save up for the second 16" when you feel the need to get more. Dual subs are no doubt good but it sucks having to upgrade both subs. I have the 14" and I still think that if the 16" sub was on sale at the 899 price I'd have gotten that. The 14" pounds though so I'm set for a while. 0

I recently got this and a pair of RP 8000F II + RP 500C II. Pretty happy with it, but I don't have much of a reference to compare to in terms of high end speakers. Prior to this I was using a set of old Logitech Z5500s that died recently, so massive upgrade lol.
It is a great setup for music, I have a pair of HD800 headphones and the clarity is similar. First sound system that I've enjoyed listening to music on as much I do my headphones.

Your priority should be Center, Left and Right, Sub, Surrounds. Recommendations here:

Why is there 2 different prices? Click this slickdeal link it's showing the $529 price. Search this same sub through Google and go to Adorama it's $899? What is going on, anyone else?!??

I recently went to a house with 2 of these and 4 or 5 of the triple bookshelf kiplsh speakers...
It was just loud.
Smaller speakers are way crispier

I would suggest figuring out what options would be optimal for your environment/layout.

Then figure out which one you'll ultimately want.

How good/optimal of one you want, a good/optimal one is a long term investment imo.

Imo the quality of every speaker is crucial .
So budget goes 5.1(LCR,sub,surrounds)then object based speakers(if you go that route).
