But slow charging better for battery life. Not that most people loose or throw them out before they reach EOL

Would be ok for an extra charger. It's very slow for 4 AA but could be useful for times when you're trying to charge many batteries at once. I use a similar Panasonic charger that way in addition to my main charger.

Wouldn't work on some off-brand kinda old AAs (2000 mAh). The white lights kept blinking for all 4 ports whatever that means (as I lost the manual). Guess it's back to my 20 year old Energizer charger that's somehow still hanging in there.

Fair enough. It's just so fast though. This isn't a car battery where you gonna be out a lot of money.
