For those interested in obtaining straw bottle lids associated with the 12oz models to use with the 16oz model (in lieu of the spout lid) take note of the following instructions.

Replacement Funtainer lids are available from Thermos for $2.00 each plus a shipping and handling charge. The shipping charge is $3.00 for up to a $5.00 purchase. The shipping cost will increase by $0.50 for each additional $5.00 purchased. Delivery times are 7 to 10 business days within the continental US and 10 to 14 business days to Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii. Shipping times to Guam and Puerto Rico may take up to 21 business days.

Thermos accepts several methods of payment: all major credit cards, check or money order. To place an order for a replacement lid, contact the Thermos consumer service department at 1-800-831-9242 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday. You may also place your order via email by sending your request to [email protected] and providing your name, mailing address, phone number and credit card number along with the expiration date. You may also mail a money order or check for your replacement part to: Thermos LLC, 355 Thermos Rd, Batesville, MS 38606.

When placing your order please include the preferred lid color and model number. The model number is located on the inside base of the product. The current style included with 12oz straw bottles is F410 with a handle that sits external to the lid assembly. The older style is F401 where the handle is flush with the lid when down. Personally, I've found the newer design to be sturdier, whereas the integral handle seemed to have a greater tendency to eventually get snapped out/off.

Note that the lids ship with a silicone straw(!) but without the straw attachment. However, since the 12oz straws won't reach the bottom of the 16oz bottles I've adapted straws from other drinking cups (most notably, the free T-Mobile tumblers).

Good luck!
Jon

FWIW, I purchased this for almost the same price when it was on clearance at a store near me. The bottle is good and doesn't spill over. Also the mouth has a small projection on the inner side to avoid the water overflowing when a kid uses it. It is also not removable though. So the water comes out slow. My kid likes it.

They don't sell a longer straw attachment?

Straws were only ever intended for the shorter 12 oz model.

Good luck!

Seems like a very short sighted design.

Good price for this bottle. We used to use the 12 oz one with the straw for quite a while, which we really liked because they were easy to disassemble to thoroughly clean. We switched to this one with a spout since the kid is older and it holds a bit more liquid, and so far, we like it just as much. The only complaint I have is propping the o-ring on the cap out to clean, which usually requires a fork or something to pry it out. Unfortunately, that does wear it down over time, but so far, so good!
We like really like the Thermos Funtainer series since it's stainless steel inside (easy to clean; and also no liquid contact with plastic if that's something you're against), keeps ice/cold liquid really well (haven't tried anything warm but I imagine it'd do just as well), and keeping the drinking area closed when not in use to keep it sanitary (one of the biggest reason we've stuck with this series).

Thanks for the review. We are needing to upgrade from the 12oz one and I'm one of those who do care about plastic but haven't found anything easy to use for a child that's plastic/silicone free. What do you mean by no liquid touches plastic? What is the sprout made of?

Sorry, I should've been more clear. The lid is definitely plastic, so the liquid only "touches" plastic when the kid's drinking from the bottle. Otherwise, inside, where the liquid will sit, is stainless steel. Hopefully, that's a bit more helpful.

Yes thank you 😊. Do you by chance know of any kid friendly ones that are entirely plastic free (parts that touch water or their mouth)? I tried ones where he has to open the whole lid and it didn't work 😂

Unfortunately, not that I'm aware of. We've settled on this one since
