Looks like a good deal. The saw kit is typically around $184.xx, so about $15 savings.

Planning to build a few garage cabinets (mostly straight 90-degree rip cuts on plywood), doors for the cabinet (few cross cuts and rip cuts on plywood), and a french cleat wall (miter cuts on 1x4s). Hopefully this will more than suffice for that work.

It's a decent starter saw and should be up for what you're trying to accomplish. Be careful with this saw though because it doesn't have a riving knife.

Yeah, the kickback and no anti-tipping is my biggest fear, especially with beveled cuts.

I have this as a hobbyist wood worker and its great. It does exactly what I need it to which is cut damn straight cuts. It has anti tipping. The lack of a riving knife hasnt been an issue since I've used to only cut down sheets of plywood.

I suppose if I did have concerns of kickback I'd just start the cut and insert a wedge to avoid pinching.

In my honest opinion this is a worthy budget entry option.
