Holy wow I'm pissed. I bought this computer last week because it was a good deal, and now it's on sale even more (maybe because of all the buyers complaining about the SSD BSOD issue)! Now this is a bonafide steal for a prebuilt. Of course, Walmart is refusing to partially refund me per their policy which sucks. Guess I'll have to reset/repackage/return/reorder.

Anyways, here's my post from the other thread that can help people that are worried about the SSD BSOD issue (check your SSD first to make sure you have the faulty Western Digital one - otherwise this guide is pointless for you):

"Here's the configuration I got:

Motherboard: MSI Pro B650 VC - Wifi
GPU: XFX 7900GRE
RAM: T-Force Vulcan 2x16GB DDR5
Cooling: Hybrid AIO CyberpowerPC branded cooling system. CPU is liquid cooled, but the case also has RGB fans around the exterior too. Fans are soft to moderately loud. When on full blast they sound like a softish white noise machine, which I actually kind of liked.
Hard Drive: Western Digital (WD) Blue SN580 2TB SSD
PSU: Didn't bother checking. It works. Maybe I'll bother unscrewing the cover and checking later.

Noted that the GPU was sagging in the slot so I had to order a $10 GPU support brace to prevent any excess warping (it's a big GPU).

Super easy to dodge the SSD crashing issue. I booted up the computer and set up Windows 11 without connecting to the internet. You can also gamble on setting up W11 with internet if you want. (sounds like some people have had success, others haven't) Here's a quick guide on how to do that:

1: When you reach the setup portion asking for internet, you can press SHIFT+F10 keys to open Command Prompt.
2: Execute OOBE\BYPASSNRO command in the Command Prompt.
3: After executing this command, Microsoft setup will reboot the computer. After the reboot, you'll get a new button option on the same part of the setup asking about connecting that says I don't have Internet or Continue with limited setup to skip the Internet requirement (it's in small text that's hard to see because Microsoft wants your sweet sweet data). This will allow you to set up the computer with a local ID and password without needing a Microsoft account, and complete the install without connecting to the internet.

That let me set up Windows 11 without internet, likely on the software version that CyberpowerPC set up the computer on that convinced them the computer was good to ship. I had no crashing.

At this point, you could connect to the internet and try to grab the WD SSD firmware update before your computer updates Windows and/or crashes. Of course WD have their own dumb launcher/hub just like every other tech company, so you'll need to grab that to update the hard drive. Here's the link to that (creds to cardcrush on an earlier post on this thread): https://support-en.wd.com/app/ans...l#subject3

You can get the online version if you're connected to the internet, otherwise use another computer to download the offline version to a USB. Copy it to your new computer, install it. Open it up, give it a bit of time to scan your computer (it might look like it freezes for a bit). Then once it recognizes your SSD, an option should pop up under one of the various tabs/menus in the WD hub notifying you that there's an update available. I can't remember if I had to be connected to the internet (I don't think I had to be, since I used the offline install hub). Took a few seconds to update to a newer firmware version, and that was that.

The whole process took me like 10 minutes to do. After that I updated Windows and got all the other various driver/security updates installed (only thing I didn't update to was the newest Windows 24H2 preview - but I think the problem with the SSD became an issue before that was released). Been using the computer intermittently the last two days. No issues with crashing. Only game I've tested atm is Marvel Rivals at 1440p (runs fine on high settings with no issues). Glad Walmart is accepting returns until January 31st at least!

Hope this helps! I'll update this post if things change."
I was one of the people having the BSOD problem. For what it's worth, I emailed Cyberpower about it and they very promptly confirmed it should be addressed with the firmware upgrade and provided instructions, which I did and have not had a problem with it since then. Honestly I went from super frustrated to pretty pleased with it. If I could do it all again at $200 less and knowing up front what the exact problem was going to be and how to fix it, it would be a no-brainer purchase.

This one performs better for gaming.
worth paying the extra $150 but I barely play any games? The most I play is D2R. Just need a new computer since my computer is like 7 years old and lags now. Mainly used to watch Youtube, and trade stocks.

Not great for hardware ray tracing, but raster performance is great and FSR is getting better and better. UE5 titles should shine on this. Best performance under $1000 by far. Performance per dollar is equal to the HP RTX 4060 deal that was $550, but this chassis is better and more upgradable. The HP was a solid 1080p machine, this is a solid 1440p machine.

Unless you are using your computer to develop an AI program to trade stocks, then both desktop computers are overkill. If you are developing an AI program to trade stocks, then the Costco one is better since it uses an Nvidia GPU.
Else, a Nvidia 4050 or even a better CPU with integrated graphics would be enough for you.

yeah I figured so. even my current 7 year old computer is kinda enough for me but once in a while it lags so it is kinda time to upgrade. Thanks for the input. Just kinda deciding how much I want to spend at the moment.

One thing to consider, but probably in the minority, is that AMD has weird driver issues when using their own CPU + GPU. For some reason, the computer sometimes keeps using their APU instead of the GPU. You set it to GPU and when it boots up, it goes back to APU again. It's annoying.
I returned my AMD desktop because after hours of fiddling with it, I gave up.

Consider just upgrading parts in your computer. From what it sounds, either a better CPU, more/faster memory, or a better SSD. You could probably upgrade all 3 of them for less than $300.
If upgrading hardware isn't something you would want to do, getting a laptop might make more sense.

Is this good for mining? For basic AI training? Or better off with a 4060 system?

How bad of an issue is this? Does it affect all AMD systems?

This is a good deal. Buying the parts for this would cost more. The 7900GRE is very capable card.

Another vendor which I would never buy from again. My daughter's CyberPowerPC (from Best Buy) was dead after a year, sent it in for warranty service, and a year later, the same issue but no longer has any warranty.

I would hope that it would be an open box instead of priced as new, but who knows. It's Walmart.

I have never had this happen to me. I have a similar system to the one posted, except I have a 7800X3D and it has never had it try to switch to the APU. My previous system a 5800X and a RX 6700 also did not have this issue. I am not saying it doesn't happen, just that it doesn't happen to everyone.

I bought this one over a week ago for about $1300 and it's still boxed. https://www.costco.com/iBUYPOWER-...57562.html

Would this current deal be just as good? Thoughts on returning the Costco one for this deal?

14th Gen Intel Core i9-14900F Processor
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX 4070 Super Graphics, 12GB
