Apple themselves state "Some CR2032 batteries with bitterant coatings might not work with AirTag or other battery-powered products."

If they don't work on your AirTags or devices, just use rubbing alcohol or sanitizing wipes to remove the coating, and it will work. I've removed the coating when Duracell 1st put it on.

Energizer batteries got child coating too and they worked in AirTag just fine
