Depends on what aspect of Metroid Dread you didn't like. If you don't like 'metroidvanias' in general, then yes, skip this game. This is a metroidvania through and through. But if you didn't like Metroid dread because of its puzzle elements or combat mechanics, then you might want to consider this game. Prince of Persia TLC is more of platformer than Metroid Dread. I found Metroid Dread to have tougher bosses, but PoP TLC to have more challenging platforming. You can sorta button mash your way through PoP bosses, but in Metroid Dread you had to take time to learn each boss' tells and react accordingly. On the flip side some of the optional collectibles in PoP TLC can be extremely challenging. I just didn't have the skill/time/patience for one of them (that I got to post-ending), and just gave up.

Personally, I found both to be excellent games; but then I enjoy this genre.

A few random notes about PoP TLC -
— It is an extremely polished and well made game.
— It's surprisingly long. People online will claim they finished it is xyz time. Don't believe it; folks exaggerate online (often claiming less time than they actually took). I forgot how long it took for me (I'm an average gamer), but it is a 'full length' game. I know that's vague but take that as you will.
— The story is okay; they definitely missed an opportunity here. A better story would have gone a long way to make the game more attractive. One of the best things about the PoP that most remember (Sands of Time) was its story. That appeal is missing here.
— The new character starts off as a seemingly stereotypical overly cocky upstart; but thankfully the writing was better than that. The character will grow on you as the game progresses. So though the story was kinda weak, the characterization was very good.
— They absolutely missed a great opportunity by not bringing back the original Sands of Time prince. The same exact story would have sufficed. They just had to reskin the character to look like the original prince; change some minor dialog here and there — just make it so the prince is visiting a neighboring kingdom, and that was it. The nostalgic factor would have been strong. With the rumored sands of time remake happening, it would have tied in nicely.

Is this game going to drop to $10 on the switch or is this the lowest we'll see it?

Does the PS4 version offer a free PS5 update? Thanks

Edit: I found the answer on the product page. However I have another question. If the PS4 disc allows a free digital download of the PS5 version do we still need to have the disc inserted to play the PS5 version?

Yes, in that case you will need to insert the PS4 disk for sure. That's true of any game that has a PS5 upgrade — paid or free. If you have the license to an upgrade (paid or free), the system will check whether you have a license to the base game. If your base game license is not digital, you have to insert the disk. The disk is then used as a physical license key.

This game is so good. One of the best Metroidvanias I've played in a long time. I was shocked at how good it was.

Thank you. Do you think it makes sense to buy the PS4 version and get the free upgrade instead of buying the PS5 version? Since the PS5 version is also same price I am not sure which to get. Reason is sometimes PS4 versions play better on PS5 hardware and this way I can have both copies incase I want to switch back.
