I've gone through 3 pairs of these. I prefer the ventilator. Anyway, $140 is ridiculous. $70 shoujld be regular price.

It might be psychological but I think I throw better in good hiking shoes vs sneakers. more sure-footed at least.

Mine blew out prematurely on both sides of the toe, on both feet, right where the black synthetic fabric flexes. I'll never buy a shoe with that stuff on it again. If it were made of leather instead, they would be much more durable.

Have a black pair (2 yr old) and a grey pair (3 yr old) that are still like new. These are my goto's when not in sneakers or boots. Would buy another, but need std not wide.

In my opinion merrell Moab shoe is more comfortable than many Salomon shoes, but the sole pattern is not safe for hiking. I slipped in my merrell Moab so many times I have decided to use less comfy Salomons and Saucony

Think its a comfort thing, these don't feel like they are slipping on my ankle and it gives me more grip when throwing from questionable footing.
