PHEVs are underrated

I lease the Mazda CX90 PP PHEV and get about 30 miles on a charge, just enough for a daily commute. My electricity bill has increased about 50 bucks and I fill it up with gas once every 3 months. So the way I calculated it, it saves me about $60-70 a month.

If I want to take a long trip I dont have to worry about where to charge, I just fill up with gas

1/4 the size, assuming you used the full capacity, means you age the battery 4x faster for the same # of miles as batteries are rated in full charge/discharge cycles.

There's also a large difference in the quality of battery cooling and management between brands--- Teslas batteries, based on a fleet of millions now, show they still retain near 90% original charge north of 200,000 miles--- longer than most folks will own the car at all...so your FUD about needing to replace one after just 56k miles is simply nonsense.

On top of that Hybrids are slower, require more maintenance, and also catch on fire far more often than both EVs and ICE vehicles.

They're the worst of both worlds in most ways.

They're the futon of cars- not great at being either thing they try and combine.
Its true that using the battery more in a plug in hybrid stresses the battery more but lithium ion batteries have a lifespan of about 10 year or less in many cases. SO basically if you drive a lot then a EV makes sense but if you are a regular 10k/year driver with short commute hybrids are a better value.

EV's might as well be rented vehicles that you will have to buy a new car every 10 year (own nothing, be happy) a gas engine will last decades with proper maintenance.

For the folks trying to reproduce this deal, I couldn't get a reply from the OP or the other person claiming to have done it. I'm in the process of haggling with a couple of dealerships (via e-mail) right now. If I'm able to reproduce the deal at a local dealership, I'll share a copy of my buyer's order.

of course, metal doesnt degrade unless exposed to moisture. Theres 90's cars out there on their original engine that still run fine. even older cars with original engines. you wont see any teslas from even 10 years ago with their original battery. the chemistry of the lithium ion battery simply doesnt last. we may see improvement with the iron batteries that are in some now but i doubt it, planned obsolescence is king in capitalism.

We still have our 2005 4Runner, it's a spare vehicle at this point but only out of choice, still use it when a car is in the shop, still use it during the summer to drive on the beach, still use it in winter if we get a silly amount of snow.

It's actually $2000 off now with referral code. Even better.
Few thousands? Unless Tesla give you 10k discount, it's 45k before destination charge and order fees, I am not getting it, there are plenty of Tesla forums, yet you are here.

Wow, it's a miracle it's not already been destroyed since all of those products have been around a long time.

Check the Congo lately? Or what "clean biofuels" actually consist of?

What a joke. Go eat your beyond meat.
The scale of those operations and the consumption per capita are both wildly greater than "a long time" ago. Worldwide meat consumption per capita has doubled in the last 50-60 years, and that's per capita... that population has also increased from ~3 billion to ~8 billion. So production of these products has grown at least ~5x.

However, EV and hybrids are just a band-aid and only marginally better than gasoline vehicles. Nobody should be pretending otherwise. The infrastructure and tires alone are expensive and damaging. Not even including the electricity generation -- which to be fair is getting cleaner.

What if you don't have any tax liability for this year. Would this credit still apply? In other words, will the IRS pay you $3750?
God I hate the income limits on these credits. The people paying taxes don't get the credit but someone paying less taxes can get thousands in handouts for buying a NEW CAR. Absolutely ridiculous. A married couple making almost 300k can claim 7.5k in tax credit, but someone else wanting to make a responsible used car purchase can't even get 4k off if they make 75k. Absurd.

But to answer your question, the credit is non-refundable. Which means it will only reduce your tax liability to 0 but not below it, and for best effect your liability should be above the credit amount. With no tax liability, there is no value to the EV credit.

Bought one tonight in Columbia, MO. $27,500 out the door, All in with all dealer fees, etc.

Drives nice. I'll add on a Ford premiumcare warranty from flood Ford for 6 years, 100,000 miles for about $1200 and should be good to go for the next 5-6 years. Jimmy and Cameron were my salesmen and they were beyond amazing to work with!!! Highly recommend machens Ford if anyone else is interested.

Yes, there are millions, how many of them with 200k miles driven with 10% degradation? Did you read the whole story or just pick up millions?
You can't be serious, there are over 300 millions cars in the US, tesla only produced 6 millions across the world.
I just post facts. I do remember reading about Tesla recently announcing some new batteries for their cars.

It's crazy, but if you take a drive around SF bay are, you'll likely see what I mentioned 10-20% of cars being Teslas. Here's something interesting:
