can somone pls explain why these are so popular suddenly? within the last couple months, sales of these on amazon exploded.why? i bought 2 for 20 in home depot, they seem decent but i dont understand why they going like hot cakes....

I have this tape measure. It's ok but the main downside for me is that it doesn't have measurements on the back side, and this is important if you're measuring the ceiling for lights, for example. Flipping it over does no good because the stand-out doesn't work flipped over.

Because its cheap, name brand and has fractional markings for people that are not use to reading a tape measure.

Perfect if you just need one for the junk drawer for occasional use.

Since Stanley (the makers of the FatMax tapes that everything else tries to compare to) owns DeWalt, it is really surprising that they can't produce a really good tape with the DeWalt name on it.

I actually like these over the Milwaukee ones. the lock works well and it has fractional measurements. It's also bright and yellow so easier to find.

So many tape measures don't have metric, which makes them so much less useful and perhaps why so many are on sale these days. They're not just for US-based construction.
