It's a gaming laptop and if you have all the power hungry devices running while playing a game then yes, you're not going to have a long battery.

If you want a laptop with better battery life then don't get a gaming laptop or turn down all the power hungry devices. People have easily extended the battery life on gaming laptops to over 5 hours by doing so.

Complaining about battery life on a gaming laptop is like complaining about MPG on your 500HP sports car.
Seems like a good deal. Legion laptops run hot, I have a lot of them. I have to use a powerful fan cooler underneath it, the $80 expensive one that has one giant turbine cyclone fan. Battery life is terrible, sometimes 90 minutes, sometimes 45, even in silent mode doing powerpoints.

All said, when the 5090s come, I'll still buy another Legion, I like them and their builds better than any other laptop brand.

In a few months this laptop should be much cheaper.

Is this a smoking hot deal or am I imagining things? Though I'd argue most people don't need a 4090

It's ok if you must have 4090 laptop right now but not smoking hot deal. Generation switch is just around the corner and halo products get devalued the most.

Agreed - it's been smooth sailing for a while on the Legion lines. I'm amazed Lenovo struggled with build quality issues on their non-Thinkpad lines for so long. While they are never going to be built to the same standard, surely the IP on designing a strong hinge would have trickled down. Basic stuff.

Is Lenovo still differentiating their Legion lineups with the 9/9i sporting the MiniLED and 7/7i with the IPS screen? Have they ever considered putting OLED in the Legions similar to what Asus is doing with the G16 ? I would more seriously consider a Legion if they ever got OLED....

Didn't know that they offered mini LED. Might consider them now.. Is there an easy way to tell which models?

This deal happens pretty periodically at B&H and Microcenter (4090 for ~$2400). I think the sweet spot for this generation is the Legion 7i with the 4080 for $1900-$2000. I got that laptop last year during black friday for $1900. I upgraded from the Legion 5 pro to the 7i this generation as the Legion 5 pro did not have thunderbolt and I have 3 monitors with thunderbolt connectivity which serve as pseudo docks. The legion 7 definitely has a more premium chassis feel and I'm super happy with the laptop for both workstation and gaming workloads.

Would you be able to link to the laptop cooler you're referring to? Thanks ahead of time!

Laptop 4090 is barely stronger than a laptop 4080. It's nowhere close to the difference between a desktop 4090 and 4080.
That's because for laptop they use the same dies as a tier down from the desktop lineup. 4090 Laptop is really a 4080 desktop die, right down to the VRAM and SM count.

I think it's only the 9i models. They are very expensive.

Decent deal, but maybe not a smoking hot deal. If it was $2000 or under for the 4090 laptop, then it would be a hot deal. The laptop is well designed/engineered, with decent vapor cooling (compared to the legion 7i - non pro), decent keyboard, decent 16:10 IPS 240hz display with 100%DCI-P3. Keep in mind that the Microcenter SKU is slightly different than the one sold on B&H. B&H only has 1x 1TB M.2 NVME and Win 11 Home, where as the Microcenter version (more expensive) has 2x 1TB M.2 NVME (2TB in total) and Win 11 Pro. Also, note B&H's return policy on new laptops; once you open it, you can't return it unless there's a defect. Finally, another caveat with the pro i7 is that it uses an intel raptor lake generation laptop: i9-14900HX. These raptor lake generation processors (desktop and mobile) are known to have defects and could cause permanent damage. Intel has already acknowledge this issue and in certain instances offer warranty. It would be wise to make sure you update to the latest BIOS firmware update and/or update the microcode instructions to fix the issues with raptor lake processors: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raptor_Lake

"Raptor Lake CPUs have suffered issues with permanent damage from elevated voltage due to a vulnerable clock tree circuit, resulting in instability. Intel claims these issues have been since fixed in the latest microcode patches, which requires updating the motherboard's BIOS."

Can anyone who had gotten this or the RTX 4080 version confirm whether it's 1TB x 2? I'm curious why B&H listed just 1TB storage while Lenovo(non custom) and MC has 2TB (1TB x 2).

As previously mention, I think they are different models/SKUs, so they have slightly different configurations... maybe just to prevent "price matching" consumer tactics. MC has Mfr Part #: 83DE0049US, where as B&H has MFR #83DE0008US
