Would these be good for a trip to Iceland in March/April. Reviews seem to say they have OK waterproofing, and wondering if we need a higher boot. Know nothing about hiking shoes.

A little annoying they priced these boots below $60 so you have to add a filler to get free shipping

I have multiple pairs. These would be great. You get the benefits of a hiking boot but lighter and more comfortable. Waterproof is nice especially for snow.

Damn that's a great price. I just got them at REI for $75 for a 13 a month ago.
I did an 11 mile hike in them and my feet have never been happier. No pain at all in my toes or any planter fasciitis. I previously owned Adidas Terrex and always had pain.

Merrell's strength is normally comfort.

I had Moab 1 gtx which were waterproof for about 10 years. Moab 2 non-gtx, waterproof for a year.

If you're buying with the expectation of years of service, maybe not.

But for a comfortable trip to Iceland, at $60 maybe just for one trip, that might be nice.

However, I think Moab is intended for heat, but I wear them 8 months for me.

The temperature at that time of year is important to know. Maybe these will not keep your feet warm at all.

I wore the men's Moab's to Iceland for a trip in the first week of October, during which it starts to get quite cold, windy, and wet. They were perfect. They were comfortable, warm, and dry for moderate hikes over lava fields and through the mountains. High quality wool socks are as important as your boots, so don't skimp there! I wear Darn Tough. Get decent some Merino wool base layers. Enjoy it. It was the trip of a lifetime for me and the memories are so vivid.

Edit: The person below me suggests the Gore-Tex version and is correct. Those are what I wore to Iceland. I trudged through shallow streams in them and stayed dry. I was careful to not let water spill into them.

That absolutely depends on what you plan on doing in Iceland. If you're doing real hiking in potential snow or regardless of weather, you'll want a taller, insulated pac boot. For more casual or city wear, including with a lot of walking, these are perfect. For off-road day hikes without snow or extreme cold, I'd probably get the Gore-tex version of these, because Waterproof means "waterproof" while Gore-Tex will be truly waterproof and maintain a higher level of protection longer. I have a pair of these (non-Gore-Tex) and love them, but they do have realistic limitations.

I don't hike but I feel like I need the protection of a hiking boot for my daily travels. 😁
