Just received mine. It's a honeycomb-type filter with charcoal pellets in each of the hundreds of honeycomb sections. Plus a true HEPA filter

Several reviews saying that it stops working just outside the 2 year warranty period, but those seem to be sourced from the manufacturers website and for a different (but similar) model. For the price and size, I'm taking my chances on a few for the kids rooms and adding the additional 3-year warranty for $7 each. So if they quit working, at least I'll be reimbursed

My Winix C545 died right after 2 year warranty. Luckily Costco allowed return. Wanted to try the Coway but Amazon ran out and canceled my order. I'll try 2x of these for the same price.

Hopefully they last. If not hopefully my CC warranty will cover. Still same price as some filter replacements. Big Grin

Yeah I just got 2x Winix 909 from Costco but they went off sale (from $160 to $200) and for this price I figure these are worth a shot. Just starting this air purifier journey after being on the sidelines for years. Hoping it makes a noticeable difference for my family

I agree but most of these reviews seem to be pointing to a real issue with the unit failing between 1-2 years. The company will replace them when still under warranty, but won't replace the replacement unit when it inevitably fails too. Sounds like bad capacitors and there's a YouTube video on how to repair it for a few bucks. For me, at this price and size of purifier, it's worth the shot especially if purchasing the WM extended warranty for $7. As others have stated, this unit is around the cost of replacement filters.

Same here, I picked it up over the summer for $160 and returned it and got the Coway Airmega instead. I just ordered the one posted here as a replacement when anyone of the Winix filters I am using need to be replaced.

I have this - bought it from Best Buy around 2016 I believe. It worked for ~2 years before it died - but I did use it heavily though because it's pretty usual that I'd just turn it on, and leave it running for an entire 5 days straight before turning it off.But then I could go on for 2 weeks straight without ever using it. Now when I turn it on, you just see weird things being displayed on the digital display, and then it gets dimmer and dimmer until it's blank. This leads me to believe it's the transformer that's messed up and it's not feeding enough Voltage to the unit. At $45, I'm super inclined to buy another one because the cost of putting a new transformer in the old one would probably cost almost the same.

I bought one of these and it failed after about 1 year. Unsure what happened it just quit working. It turns on then immediately turns off. Buyer beware.
