Oh and p.s. I found the quality on this specific model has decreased since the company switched owners.

When you have this and the Patagonia nano air in hand, the Patagonia was noticeably better quality.

What year did the owner switch? I remember when Arc'teryx jackets were made in Canada, and they switched to China. I claimed warranty on two jackets because a panel delaminated. They issued me gift cards to buy newer models.

Thanks for sharing this. There's a lack of Arc'Teryx deals on Slickdeals, so this is great to see

China or not, I haven't had problems with the quality of Arc'Teryx stuff to date. Additionally, the customer service and how much they stand behind their product is enough for me to pay the premium...currently.

quality went down big time. It's overpriced and relying on brand name at this point.I'd shell out for Patagonia instead.Owned at least 10 arcteryx items over the years. You can definitely tell the quality has declined.

Patagonia is terribly mainstream at this stage, like North Face. I'd never buy Patagonia.
But the sad truth is that Arc'teryx has gone more mainstream as well. It's sad when more niche brands that were more exclusive become mainstreamed by the plebs then the brand doesn't mean as much anymore.

I just learned Mountain Hardware had been bought up by Columbia many years ago. 😲 WTF! All my brands that I like seem to have sold out a while back. It just sucks. There's no brand to turn to now.

Mountain Hardwear continues to hold the throne on active outerwear. MHW stuff has additional comfort and fit and innovative materials and weaves that Arc just doesn't understand. They are very much followers in the industry and the price to value to performance just isn't there to justify. I want to like Arc but it's manufactured exclusivity like Lululemon. The cool logo is about all Arc has going for it anymore.

Ok I have to ask, why is everyone buying from the Outlet https://outlet.arcteryx.com/us/en...atom-hoody
The Outlet is Final Sale "Items purchased on Arc'teryx Outlet are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged. Price adjustments are not accepted."

But the same jacket with the same prices are in the Store (not Outlet) https://arcteryx.com/us/en/shop/mens/atom-hoody
Which can be returned "Purchases made from November 6th, 2024 may be returned through to January 24, 2025."

Am I missing something?

a gree... ultra high price items and they decide to finish it in bagali..?? thats like do it in haiti.

osprey does alot of their stuff in vietnam... the osprey stuff has good fit and finish stitching and zippers and layered fabrics.

arcteryx should be doing it in vietnam.

I'm not paying $200 for a jacket with synthetic insulation. The good old feathers are the best.

You don't go outside much, do you? Down is certainly not preferable for anything with damp conditions. Even breathing into the backer fabric of a jacket can compromise the warmth of down. That's why body mapping is used on most high end down pieces by Arc and others.

I bought the smaller size and different color of the same jacket for my bf since he likes his so much and he lost weight. We compare it side by side and the old version seems softer and the new version seems not as soft as the old one. The material definitely felt different. I just have to double check if the one he got is Atom.

The Atom Hoody is the same price in the Outlet vs non-Outlet. I confirmed with them on the phone that you can Return if you do not buy it through the Outlet as it won't be FINAL SALE
