Don't get me wrong, it's a nice stocking stuffer but all of these things could be bought for a few dollars on Amazon or eBay, probably with additional tools, etc. I have many cheap guitar maintenance tools from those stores that were less than this and more versatile with additional pieces. Kinda surprised a brand like Jackson would sell something like this.

for example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/36492730...media=COPY

That's not a very good example. Each item is 8 to $12. You get all of them for $20 in this kit.

Junk set from China. Might as well get a better set on Amazon for less.

I would think you'd be better off for the bux with a set like this:

https://www.amazon.com/TIMESETL-I...07KWT7XLY/

And then add in a couple of the right size for your guitar ball head allen hex wrenches, a small wire cutter and a string winder. And if you're going to do nut string slot filing/cutting, get a good set of files for that specific purpose, not generic needle files.

I like the sentiment. Maybe not highest quality or all the tools anyone would ever need but good place to start from scratch.

This is good advice. The tools in that link will be more helpful and they won't go in the garbage as soon as the buyer gets a clue about setting up a guitar.

Stew Mac is kind of the standard for guitar tools

If this: https://www.amazon.com/StewMac-Ba...B01HUCIV7O is the kit you're referring to, then there is absolutely no comparison. The only thing the stewmac kit on amazon lacks for a very basic kit IMHO is the ball head hex keys for truss rod adjustment, but you can get them anywhere - amazon, harbor freight, home depot, etc. I love the straight edge in the stewmac kit. You can fret a string at the first and 12th frets and get a fairly good look at the relief, but that straitedge is the ultimate.

IMHO whether or not the stewmac set is better is highly dependent upon your skill level and your intended usage now and in the future. I'll stick to my statement in #7 for the first time and very casual user. https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=174685257&postcount=7&peid=ae395ac4-0e89-47cd-97bc-23713125b4f9
