For music, yes, especially if you get two and make a stereo pair.

For surrounds, I think the Era 300s are a better choice because of their added channels, including up-firing Atmos drivers.

I have both. The sonos is noticeably boomier for bass and has much better clarity. The upgrade is worth it in my opinion.

There are some addons in HACS (Sonos card). This, coupled with some hue tap dials, have made me very happy (I have the tap dials controlling volume and skipping tracks etc).

Oh wow! pulled the trigger! Didn't plan on buying these but at this price, I'm in.
Have 6 Era 100, 2 Fives & Sub. Going to upgrade two of the Era 300's.
They all sound amazing already. Looking forward to cranking up 4 Fives with Sub! Smilie

No, the Era 100s are all stereo paired for Kitchen, bathroom and living room.
The living room have the 2 - Fives & Sub & 2 - Era 100's.
I'll be upgrading the 2 - Era 100's in the living room to have 4 - Fives & Sub.

It's strictly for music, so I don't have any need for the Atmos capabilities of the Era 300's.

Can I play music off iPhone into this ? If I get two, can I place them in different rooms and they will play same song off iPhone?

If on WiFi, yes. I don't have an Era speakers but these are fantastic; I haven't felt the need to upgrade. These also have a 3.5mm jack in the back and have used with a record player as well. Super well balanced.

I will hold off. Enough with a family room with arc sub and play ones. Gym with an arc and sub. Office with beam and 2 play 5s. The list goes on. Finally content.

Do you think it will work well outside in stereo setting? I've a large backyard but I'm only trying to fill up the sound in patio.

When you do 4 grouped in a room does it do stereo well? Not sure if you then assign two L and two R or not

Yes , I have one 5 and a 1 in my garage . Not sure why , but anyways, I can use the 5 alone and clearly hear it at my neighbors . (My parents house is next door) large yards 2 acres . 2 will easily give you what you want .

I have a fairly large deck with a portion of it with a playhouse built above it . a couple hundred feet out back and I have one play 1 mounted up on a floor joist . And it also easily covers the deck plus more . There is a perfect sweet spot I can stand when I have the play 5 from the garage on and the deck play 1 on .

That's a good question, and I've played with this a few times, depending on where we will be sitting most of the time.
Depending on placement, I'll have:

R L

L R

If that makes sense. I also adjust the balance depending on how close we will be to one of the speakers.

You know... when you are listening to psychedelic trance, you want to make it sound as trippy as possible. Big GrinCool

they have airplay and yes you can play the same on 2 separate rooms and disconnect just one at any time

I have a few Sonos around the house and I love this speaker
